Robbio grows some weed

:jointman: :pighug: -- Robbio, cookin' up the Goods from all over the world! -- love it- :d5: .....I looked up the Mullumbimby Madness, and was blown away that it's an old Aussie strain - interesting! Looks like a couple of the Elder Guru's were behind the breeding.... where did you find this "ancient" strain? ..... African stuff swims in my head these days, and I'm dying to find some real-deal buds of something,.. I'll even pay $ for it-....but sadly, I haven't seen strains like Malawi Gold or Red Congolese in years now,... That's why I have this total hard-on for those Original Delicatessen strains I found, Queen Mother, Lilly, and Edy (actually a congo/himalayan cross)-- that, and their blooming speed! All of these will finish in 8-9 weeks- :coffee:... do-able in my climate!
AG, that's for Acapulco Gold I assume?... grew a couple out from Barney's a couple years back, and they were stellar, but pretty different pheno's... one was a classic Sativa beauty, petite boned, bushy, made lots of lovely lean colas that had delish' banana/bubblegum aromatics,... the other looked a great deal like a hybrid in structure and buds, with an unusual sharp metallic citrus aroma and a buzz that until well cured was like bad biker speed- :nono:  heart racing jittery shit, man!
So tell me more about cobs Robbio, this is news to me... @StickMan has mentioned them recently.... I read some already at the other thread, but i was wondering more about the background on this, the "why", what the process is doing,.. it's almost like a "dry" fermentation? .. wondering what it does to the cannabinoids/terp's, the nature of the plant material itself,... does it break it down some, softening it up?

First of all i am not a cob expert..Yes it is a fermentation process, kind of like a fine wine or whisky. The guys have done some studies on terps and thc level.I will try to get some of those studies for the forum.I am not very tech savvy so copy and paste is out of the question. So the THC levels were like 7 to 8 %higher on cobbed buds as apposed to jar cured buds.I found that to be amazing.First of all you have to have good pot,and plenty of moisture in the buds, dry buds will not work with cobbing. The satty leaning buds will make better cobs in my opinionThe Zamal and old haze lines work really well. You can cob any strain. The indy dom strains tend to be less couch lock.I am still a novice cobber for sure.I am still learning and experimenting .The original Malawi style cobs were buried in the ground i think. The vac bag way is just a ghetto version,or shortcut for old stoners like me to achieve the same result.I have done over 20 cobs and canary buds. The canary buds are just naked cobs placed in vac bags and sweated like the ones wrapped in corn husk..The canary buds are easier for me because of my arthritis .I have trouble tying the string tight enough on the corn husk version..The canary buds are as good i think. The mullem madness was from one of my buds down under. They were old seeds,i could only get one female to pop.I wish i had made some seeds from her,but this run was just for cobbing material. The AG is Acapulco.Gold.I did make some seeds from those.I do have some Zamal from reunion island, but those are really old as well.I will not mess with those until i get better at popping old seeds.Like i said before i am still learning thru trial and error .If a dumbass like me can make some decent cobs i,m sure some of the lads on this forum can be successful as well.If your sweat process is in the ballpark, and you dry them them in between time in the vac bags. You have to be careful to watch for mold for sure. When in doubt keep em in the vac bag. Thanks for the interest bud.Try the method and see ,come along for the journey with us.The doing is always the best learning process.Peace please

:pass: Robbio, have you ever chatted with Stickman and Tobe? They are excellent resources for such older, landrace strains since they are part of a few different private "clubs" for breeders and seeds,... They both are forming Healing Path Genetics here, and elsewhere-.... Stone, founder of the Autoflower Portal is another great potential resource, and he's on a serious Sativa kick right now, gathering amazing stuff up for projects,....
Hmmmm, I'd be very interested in seeing the science and studies/lab reports behind this cobbing,...:thanks:... nothing tricky about copy/paste brudda... images, graphs etc you can just right click the mouse and select copy image, then go to where you want it placed, right click again and hit paste....
Highlighting and selecting, do you know how to do that? left click and hold the mouse button, move over what you want selected, release, then right click to get options like copy, just the same...
OK, the THC increase is what I'm most curious about,... that needs clarification, because as far as I know about plant physiology, once the material has dried some, metabolic processes have halted, cells have shut down (died basically), and nothing is being "made" anymore, it's all non-metabolic breakdown/degradation from there,... The question being begged here is: how can partially dried (dead) bud possibly be making more THC, or even converting CBG into it, if any CBG is around at all,... *(CBG is a precursor cannabinoid of both THC and CBD),.... I wonder then, if this process is converting some THCA (the primary form in live plants) into psychoactive, decarboxylated THC, a process that heat is doing however it is applied... By preconverting more of THCA to active THC, maybe more THC is being released vs. being destroyed (in part) by intense sources like flame, so effectively, one is getting more converted THC, hit per hit as it were,.. or in your case, taken in via the gut/sublingual,... Also, during digestion and breakdown, delta-9 THC is getting converted by the liver, temporarily, into an even more powerful 11-hydroxy-THC, which may in part explain why some folks get hammered extra hard with edibles, even with the reduced absorption efficiency that comes with oral dosing.... Anyway, food for thought here!
Another facet of this fermentation is how the anaerobic environment during sealing is avoiding the formation of ammonia, which is why a lot of the old school crappy Mex' bud is browned out and crappy smelling, after the ammonia has gassed off... if it gets packed too soon, no cure, too moist then this is usually what happens.... the corn husks may allow enough O2 to get in, but the sealed stuff is another ball game,...:smoking:

.I am not sound on the science of it.I have recently done some of sticks Zenda Baad strain that has a healthy CBD %.I got some cobbed now ,i am waiting on the results to see if CBD is even affected by the process. To my knowledge no one has done any study on how or if CBD is affected.I will have to go back and find where i read about THC in cobs.I think edibles in general are more potent. But i think that depends again on how good your bud is to start with.On a different subject,Eating weed this way is more efficient way of consumption by any other method . I use a lot less pot than i did when i smoked years ago. This method has been around forever.Like i said before i am not an expert by any way shape or form.lol I have found that buds consumed this way are a better treatment for my arthritis symptoms.I learned the cob method because the canna butter i use cause my triglycerides to be elevated. The duration for cobs is excellent as well. Thanks for your input very helpful as always.Peace please

When the buds are dried and compacted there is more thc in that small area kinda like a good hash.A lot of the moisture is gone in the flower and is more concentrated in a smaller area.I guess that why its more potent.I ,m just spitballing here guys.We have so many smart people on this sight,i aint one of em.This alternative method works for me really well.Cob on..Peace please

Anyone looking for good African genetics should check out Ace seeds they have them all and some nice looking crosses too. They also have an interesting auto NLx Malawi I think.
Yes i have grown some of their gear,I did a repro on the ace zamadelica ,nice strain. Thanks for stopping in bud.Peace please

Todays featured strain is a little indy dom plant.Killa Cherry a nice little compact plant,i could do a scrog with these.Peace please
