Indoor Right hid for the right grow space

So i have a grow ten that is 6.5 feet tall and about 5 feet on all four sides can i run a 1000 watt with a 10,000 btu ac inside the tent effectively or do i need to down size to a 600 watt? And also are de hid lamps really worth the money?

If you want to use all the space in a 5x5 with HID, you'll need a big reflector with 1000 watts or at least a 750. Even with 1000 watts, if the reflector is well ventilated you probably won't need an ac unit unless it's already really hot in the tent's room. Many reflectors are not designed to give a 5x5 footprint, you'd want to be looking at the raptor or magnum xxxl hoods for that space.

Also keep in mind you won't have a lot of growing room vertically, especially with the 1000 watt. Perfect for scrogs though, I use 6.5 foot tall tents right now too.

Yeah i just picked up the magnum xxxl 8inch air cooled hood. Ill be setting this grow up in az so im very worried about heat. How close do you want to keep the plants from the glass?

And for that matter i bought the galaxy ballast select a watt design and what would you recomend as for the diffrent settings start the first werk on 400 watt setting then up it every week till i get to 1000?
