I am with you. I am doing it, shaping to plant to fit the hotspot. But I am making a mess of it, leaves broken off, dirt spilled in my grow room, two nice side stems mangled.

I want to try shaping the light to fit the plant. You have the most adventurous Journals, thought maybe you have tried light shaping.

About the light shaping... I do use a light meter and have learned a lot about aiming them. At least the ones I use, if you try to aim them, they don't do what you think actually quite the opposite... If I tilt my light down to try to do kind of a sideways angle at the plant, all the intensity goes to the top... I just do very high intensity and it works like a charm... I really want to do stuff that is not a lot of effort over time... My operating costs are quite low actually so paying a little more in electricity for a very high intensity lamp is worth it in the long run... my yields, quality and very positive feedback bear this out...

I grow about 20 at a whack and with a/c, lights, fans, computers, etc.. my operating cost for the room is 250/mo. Just a few percent of the value of my product. I'll spare no expense in the quest for growing really primo weed... ;)

I mix in a cup or two per 5 gallons of soil. It really helps

You understand the issue then with LED. It sucks calcium and magnesium... do you think this would negate the need for further supplementation when growing under LED? I gong to do it anyway but am wondering what you think...

LOL... just read this... I gong... that's nice... I'll have to do it again... gong.... flmao

That's why I use it. No added calmag is what I wanted

Sorry, I hit the wrong button. I also don't run straight led. I run 1000w hps with 2 60 x5 mars hydro LEDs for sidelighting

I suppose I could just add more dolomite lime but it has some drawbacks... I think the oyster shell and epsom salt is the route I'll pursue in the future... I'll just add this booster to my spikes... and a little to the general mix. Give that a try... I'm getting close... but not quite there... lol

This is great to hear... I'm trying this technique I saw on TLOsoils.com where they make spikes (packages of mixed up crap) which have high levels of P and K and maybe more for flowering... I can do what you suggest and then try to account for any long term short fall or depletion by doing the spikes... In my new crop they all have spikes of P and K, next time I'll add more stuff... I just make four tube holes in the sides and fill them up with the spikes. I've yet to seem them in action... a few more weeks for this to be noticeable though...

Boogie brew is my wildcard because it makes the plants super efficient at taking up nutrients. So I can do too much and have already experienced this. So supplementing is really kind of touch and go right now. I'm finding that Boogie Brew takes care of most needs as it was originally developed specifically for growing cannabis. So I am experimenting with putting stuff in the soil to be readily available when the plant needs it... Kind of fun but I'd love a Ca Mg breakthrough with my next crop...

Tuning all the time.... Thanks again for the discourse...

I have my fizz pot going again and this time I think I've got it as far as how much acid to add... I want to CO2 to hit 1500 (optimal) and continue up to about 3500 ppm (not optimal) then gradually diminish over time... 3500 is NOT toxic to the plant just not productive at that level... however for the first hour or so (optimal hour) the level is perfect... The 3500 drops pretty quick in my leaky environment, hits about 2000 and then drops real slow for the rest of the evening and then just says at 900 ppm until I open an outside window as this is the basement... FYI... CO2 ppm in a rock concert is about 1700... and elevator about 1200. Actually any small room with more than 1 person gets up above 1000 easily...

Temps are now 85 in the room as well and will remain that way until tomorrow at noon.
