With my bumbling around it is pretty much guaranteed to permanently scratch the diffuser...

Looks like a good idea, you go first.

Maybe I can find a reflective disc that is is softer than the plastic diffuser AND can tolerate the LED heat.

Keep thinking.... you'll have a breakthrough!

You're talking about a GN HS1?

Yes Sir, I am thinking about putting a white plastic bottle cap in there. Just the flat top part, might need to trim it a bit. The center of the hot spot gets reflected off the white placstic. The light bounces in the LED and comes out in smoother gradient, less hot spot. I would gladly sacrifice 10% total output for an even flood of light.

It might be my stoopidest idea ever.

Grow Northern's lens looks a lot like this thing I saw at the discovery store same size and everything... I really like my leds. The hot spot, if you know it is real easy to deal with. As a matter of fact I capitalize on it!!! The spot is in the middle so I bend my plants to be one sided and face them all to the middle so the hot spot is hitting the lower branches. It winds up being a very even light intensity over all the branches high and low... I get great yields and very dense, tightly packed tops and nugs...

You know what they say.... (who are 'they')... When you get handed lemons... make lemonade!

I am with you. I am doing it, shaping to plant to fit the hotspot. But I am making a mess of it, leaves broken off, dirt spilled in my grow room, two nice side stems mangled.

I want to try shaping the light to fit the plant. You have the most adventurous Journals, thought maybe you have tried light shaping.

Start them at about 20 days and use straightened coat hangers to make them go where you want... I'll make a little video of it for you to see some time soon... It's so easy... another Japanese gardening method that I use with canna... I makes the plant bend itself and you hardly have to do anything...

I've been trying to see if some of my new nutrition methods provide enough additional Ca and Mg for the plants to use during flower and this does not appear to be the case... I diagnosed the 'liming' issue with Esso as be caused by my holding back on the CaMg supplement (liquid)... I want to get away from using it. This test is most helpful. Time to read...

It being the liquid... there are more discreet methods that I'll be trying to incorporate into the whole TLO environment... again... time to read...

Do you mix in any oyster shell?
