High all! (see what i did there?)

Ive got a plant going in a small cupboard, a micro grow essentially, but the plant has grown to completely fill the space, so much so that there is very little light getting to the bottom. As a result the lower part of the plant is underdeveloped. I know that a staggered harvest is an option and i will certainly be doing this but i would like to give the lower half a bit more of a fighting chance to catch up so was thinking of removing some fan leaves. Im only a couple weeks off till harvest so the fan leaves will soon start to crumble anyway.
I know why you should keep them on and im fully prepared to hear the bombardment of 'No! keep them on to feed the plant...' but i feel its a good trade off- depriving the top for the benefit of the bottom, So i guess im just asking if anyone has done it, or if you had to do it, How would you go about it?

Would you cut them off with scissors? like a nice clean cut? or should i pinch and rip? im worried about leaving loads of open 'wounds'

Could i just cut off individual leaf 'fingers'? would this be a less stressful aproach?

Really any help/advice at all wolud be appreciated. possitive or negative.

Thanks.

I remove fan leaves that block direct light from budsites. Plants make more leaves than necessary, just in case a deer would happen to walk by and eat most of them. If there's no frost on the leaf, I'll most likely remove it at some point.

I second psy I have been removing leaves gradually just a few at a time that arent frosty or blocking my other develpoing buds

And def use micro snips or whatever you have purchased for trimming ypur plant a clean cut is better if ypur going that route

Good luck"pher Wiggle"

I personally remove leaf fingers as well as whole leaves.sparingly of course but i just use my thumb nail slice them where I wanna do it but id recommend a pair of scissors or pointy trimmers imo.but try tucking if it dont take or similar id remove a finger or the whole finger and a half of two others letting light get a little to where you want.ive personally have excellent results when done correctly as well as sparingly.I do it every single grow without fail now to be honest.but with tucking, and some finger taking and the occasional whole leaf(usually done in pair for me)removal and thats it.if your soil or medium is solid n squared away itll be a lot easier to do and less shock to the plant to stunt its growth.organics this really works well,i have almost zero slowing of growth anymore if done regularly and slight pieces at a time.to some extent I think your training your plant as an LST format of training of the genes with light stresses and makes the plant stronger imo without having to get uber involved doing lst lol just an effective way that works for me.

Happy growing man!:Sharing One:

I don't like removing my leaves. there sugar factories i will cut off lowers after some time and i suppose removing them slowly as the plant grows will not hurt but Id just rather leave the leaves on the plant.

I have a cheesus dragon that has no less than 150 leaves way to many but I just let her be..

Wow thanks guys!! some really good info here!

i am as conflicted as ever but at least i know others do do it. ill go sparingly and just cut off whats absolutely nessesary to improve light penetrtion.

Thanks again all :grat:
