I’m looking for the quietest inline extraction fan system I can find for my new 5x5x7 tent. A noisy fan for my indoor grow is going to be a no-go! I was looking at the Hyper Fan Stealth fans because they put the fan inside an insulated tube and are supposed to be super quiet. I thought about getting an extra large (for my tent size) fan so I could run it at 30%-50% power; because I heard that they are all exceptionally quiet at 50% or less power.

Has anyone used these Hyper Fan Stealth models; or do you have another recommendation for a super quiet fan?

I’m also looking at the Vortex S-Line. They definitely don’t have the electrical savings of the Hyper Fan Stealth but they are also supposed to be pretty quiet: https://growershouse.com/catalogsearch/result?q=s-line

Same questions about these fans.

been using this from Phresh for a long time. Quiet, powerfull, it's been on for 3 years, hardly ever turned it off, never missed a beat

I've been using a Vivosun 6" fan in my 4x4 it's pretty quiet and no complaints from noise with it being in the same room running on low speed, but when I need to upgrade when this one dies I'll be going with the Hyper Fan.

I run a Hyperfan stealth 6in in a 1m x 1m tent - quietest of all the fans I tried and I typically run it right down the dial (have cobs so very little heat to remove, might be different depending on if you're running HPS or are in a hot climate). Nothing is totally silent but this is as good as I've come across.

Sounds like the Stealth is a good choice and I think that’s the way I’ll go. But I’m still interested to hear any other good options.

What do you mean when you say you run your fan “right down the dial?”

I’m running quantum board LEDs but there’s still some heat generated when you pull 600w. Not like HPS or MH, though.

hahaha, that's what I use also... I love mine! I have on speed router & also recycle (for short bursts) I think mine is rather quiet, mine is 115w...so not sure what some around the same price range would be and if they would be as good as this has been for me... so far I'm like 5 yrs on this inline fan and no different then the day I got it, still quiet but I do keep my stuff clean so that helps....also mine runs under a much greater amount of negative pressure then anyone else, since i use a sealed tent w/co2....and has still held up....I actually have two, one is the plastic version 6" the other is metal... they both work well, but I prefer the metal in-line...

I just got the 6" version, and I love it.
It's much smaller and lighter than the old fashioned kind, and that allowed me to rearrange light, filter, and fan more conveniently.

I switched from a 4" inline (iPower maybe? I really don't remember) to this:

Well - almost that. That is the T6 version which has a sensor and is temperature regulated. But there were a lot of consistent reviews that loved the fan but had major issues with the controller. For about $50 less they make an S6 version which is the same fan, but with an 8 speed manual controller. That's the one I went with. Very lightweight but you have to really make sure the ductwork is on it good before you clamp it down because the plastic housing may allow some slippage. Otherwise, so far, I have nothing but good things to say about it. Very quiet for the power.

Happy growing!

The stealth version comes with a dial which you can vary the fan's speed from 35% to 100%, I use mine at probably 40%!

I'm confused on this a little bit. Does the fan not have to be running at the proper cmf rated speed for the filter? I was under the impression that if you had a filter rated to be used at 400cmf it needed to be around 400cmf for it to work properly. I thought the only thing the speed dials might be good for would be so you could use the same fan on different size filters. I'd love to hear your opinions on this. Thanks!
