Quick question on when to pollinate?

Okay I figured I would ask the pros here. So I reversed a SODK x Alien from Mephisto a couple of months back. I stored the pollen in the freezer with desiccant in jars of rice. Now I have a SODK x Alien going right now that I want to pollinate. My goal is just to make a couple of extra seeds for myself. The female I have going right now is on day 32 she started showing bud sites about a week ago. I have read a lot but can't seem to find the "perfect" time to pollinate. I know that I need to allow about 6 weeks for them to mature. Seeing how this plant will probably only go 75 days or so should I pollinate now? It seems like it's to early to pollinate now so I thought I would ask. When is a good time to pollinate? Here's a couple of pictures of her now just to get an idea of where she's at in the flowering process.

If your only looking for a couple of seeds like 20 than the time factor can be thrown out the window as far as waiting to pollinate. If its for a couple than the earlier the better. I like to pollinate the pre flower if I am trying to still harvest. Be carful it dose not take much and you will see in a few days if it took or not by the pistils turning brown as there job has already been done. I like to pollinate the pre flowers that are on the main stalk were the main fan leafs attach because these single buds sites are useless and don't form usable buds anyways. I like to use a Q-tip as it hold on to pollen good. Don't get your stash of pollen close to the plant as a slight breeze from a fan or your breath can screw up your whole harvest. I just had a friend screw up a whole crop out doors cuz he tried to pollinate a branch and a breeze blew on it. Turn off your fans when you do this! Better yet take the plant out of the grow room for this.

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and used a tiny brush last night and hit one branch. I probably did use to much though. I let her sit out of the grow room. I was going to leave her out over night but ended up putting her back in a couple of hours later. The pollen might have spread I know that was a dumb move. I just didn't want to leave her in the dark all night lol. It doesn't look like anywhere else got hit but only time will tell. All of my other plants are still babies so no worries there. Worse comes to worse that pollen will spread on the same plant. It seems like the ones I hit are shriveling already. They're not brown but they aren't sticking straight out anymore either. That's interesting that you use the preflowers or the little calyxs on the stem. I thought those were useless but I guess they will still make seeds. Thanks again for the help on this. If you were trying to seed a whole pant when would you do it? Just for future reference. Would you wait untill like week six or seven of the plants life and then just push her past harvest? Sorry for the dumb questions this is a first for me.

O not I pollinate in like my kitchen and then put the plant back in the grow room. Have not had any problems doing it. I would not leave my plants out over night either. If I was doing I whole plant I usually do every thing right off the bat. It gets me about 250 seeds per plant but I also make my seeded plants small and don't feed them much cuz I don't plan on smoking them. If I was after a lot of seeds though I would wait tell I was about 3+ weeks in to flower that way it was heavy in to bloom but none of the pistils had turned orange yet. So for an auto about day 45 or so. About the same time the plant has just stopped stretching up. Your also going to have to grow longer if you pollinate to late which sucks. If you are only after around 250-500 seeds per plant I would just pollinate as soon as the plants decide to do it on there own, harvest your seeds and learn to make hash with the rest of the plant so it is not just wasted on a seed run. I don't like to pollinate one plant either. I usually do at least 2 different females and 1 male. Some times the male is the same strain as 1 of the females and some times it is not. your never know how crosses are going to turn out so I do more than 1 type of mother so I have a better chance of getting something good when I cross different strains. I usually give away the strains I don't like to friends. This is why I have better weed and they think I am just good at growing hahaha jk...

Okay that makes it easier to know. So pretty much as soon as their is pistils seeds can be made. I will probably do it early on from here on out. I would never need 250+ seeds and it would suck to push the plant past its prime just for seeds. 20-50 seeds is more than enough for me. I could always leave the branch on their longer if I did wait to long. She was on day 34 or so when I pollinated. If the pistils don't turn brown in another day or so I'll hit her again. 250-500 Seeds from a Whole Plant is very low Numbers. In my actual Proect i have Pollinated 2 of the Lowest Branches on my Lemon Walker Girl and already got aroud 250 beans. Last whole Plant i did was over 2000 Seeds on her. Pollination mostly gets done between day 25-30 of 12/12 on Photoperiods and Day 30-40 on the Automatics.

Last whole Plant i did was over 2000 Seeds on her. Pollination mostly gets done between day 25-30 of 12/12 on Photoperiods and Day 30-40 on the Automatics.

So then I got her right when I should have on day 34. The buds are just so small I felt they were not ready. From everything I read online it says the earlier you pollinate the less seeds you will get due to immature calyxs so I was worried they were to young. I also knew that it takes about six weeks so I didn't want a twelve week plant. I went ahead and hit them with pollen already. I did not hit the popcorn buds because they are so far behind I feel it wouldn't do anything. I'll have to learn slowly hopefully it works. 2000 seeds would be way to much for me lol I only need 20-50 at most. That's a good way to have seeds for life though if you find a real keeper in the bunch.

I grew it in 6 month feed miracle grow soil and sink water with no feeding whole grow. Used 6 26W CFL lamps on a power strip. Was like $20 in supplies including the timer. I don't like to waist too much time or money on a plant I am just using for seeds.

well i am legend the 2000+ seeds girl was pollinated in pre flowering stage round day 14 so i dontwant to now how many she gave me pollinated later. still got a good 500-600 beans from her after 4-5 yrs and they are still popping good.

Haha that's awesome man, I have a solo cup grow going now I'm going to hit her with some pollen just for the hell of it. I didn't think the solo cup one would live long enough to produce seeds. You learn new things every day. That's cool as hell
