I am wondering how many autos you can grow in a jr? Just 1? Also, how do you know how much water is in the reservoir? How often do you have to refill it?

I have grown two autos (nightowl blue microverse) in a jr before, it seemed one plant thrived and the other was a lot smaller. I personally would not do it again.

I let the reservoir run empty between waterings. I use a flashlight and look through the fill tube to view the reservoir.

For a junior I have always seen 1 plant recommended.
Holds half a cubic foot of soil.
takes about 5 days to empty on first fill, then 4 days on 2nd fill,3 days then 2 and about 26 hours after that.

that was my experience with 2 jrs running 1 plant each

Are the earthbox gonna be better than fabric pots?

I think EB Jrs are great for med-small girls. They will be bigger and easier to grow than in a same size fabric pot.
With the wicking area in the center, you can turn on the rez much sooner than the Regular EB. I think it's best to direct plant with the Jr with the roots already growing in the wicking area. Autos don't need any kind of stall or slowdown. Get the roots established before filling the rez, just water the seedling as in a regular pot.

A couple of my threads about EBs

I’m running 2 photos in a jr right now. They seem to like it. I didn’t read any recommendations and just filled the reservoir from the start. Seems ok, only been a couple weeks.

Also, I plan on keeping the reservoir full. To figure out if it’s low, I plan to make a water level stick out of a cork and a 1/4” dowel.

You might want to reconsider that. Being full all the time can let bad microbes develop, and the rez can flip in quite quick fashion and kill or severely damage your girl pretty quickly.

I adopted a short dry period after my first grow in EBs. All I do is once I see the rez dry, I add water the next day.
On my second run in a EB, I used the dry period I saw on Jeremy of BAS 10x10 grow series.

I grew this Asian Haze under crappy light conditions with limited full sun time. She would have been a real monster in full sun with no trees to shade her
One more month before chop. She was just over 9ft tall.
There's an Earthbox under all that hay. I was there to keep the temps down in the EB.
Why take the chance of something going wrong? Quite a few here have adopted a short dry period.
