Questions about Earthbox

You might want to reconsider that. Being full all the time can let bad microbes develop, and the rez can flip in quite quick fashion and kill or severely damage your girl pretty quickly.

I adopted a short dry period after my first grow in EBs. All I do is once I see the rez dry, I add water the next day.
On my second run in a EB, I used the dry period I saw on Jeremy of BAS 10x10 grow series.

I grew this Asian Haze under crappy light conditions with limited full sun time. She would have been a real monster in full sun with no trees to shade her
One more month before chop. She was just over 9ft tall.
There's an Earthbox under all that hay. I was there to keep the temps down in the EB.
Why take the chance of something going wrong? Quite a few here have adopted a short dry period.

Thanks for the insight. I hadn’t heard about the dry period. I’ll try it.

Last year, I grew a pumpkin in a full EB. It was a monster and took over the yard until it got PM. I will try a dry period and see what happens.

Yes don’t forget to give ‘em dry periods like @WildBill mentioned.
I love my eb jr I’m on my 5th cycle of no till but I’m about to dump that after this round n maybe give it a rest. I started growing with grassroots living soil pots and I like em.

So you want to give up an effortless grow? LOL!
I looked at those too. wish I had got them instead of the Rain Science bags. They are good, but they need lots of water to keep them from drying out!

I’m still thinking about it lol I got 4 5g and 2 7g of the grassroots and so far it’s been pretty easy not that bad

Well, it is another method to master and it's always good to have more skills.
I'm looking forward to about another month to start a new grow.
Two big girls in the regs and two small girls in three gal Rain Science, all in the 4x4.
I really want three Jrs in the 2x4, but they would have to be small girls.

I just like the minimal work!

Howdy funions. Are you using soil? Or are you digging the trench as per earthbox instructions. Most folks here are doing soil with compost, which needs to dry down. And we are top dressing rather than trenching.

I make a pile on top of the media with my compost and add what liquid and dry nute I use to that pile. I make a pretty big pile.
On my outdoor EB grow, I made a compost slurry with the liquid nutes at a higher concentrate rate(applying the amount needed for that feeding, just less water) and it worked well. I used the tiny feeder roots to tell me when I need to add the slurry. When I could brush away a little of the compost and find those roots, I added the nute slurry.
Now, that IS with the two root system FULLY working and NOT early in the grow. Usually by two weeks with Jrs and around three weeks for Regular EBs if planting in the center. I can see the same two weeks in a Reg EB if it's end planted. The roots get to the wicking areas quicker in the center in the Jr and on the ends if in a Reg EB.
