So I recently got a 400 hps upgrade from my 250 hps and its been on a couple of days and one of my plants white hairs seem to be shrivling up on the main cola top. Is this something that just happens everytime or is it because my lights are cooking it a little too much? I haven't paid enough attention to my last grow of what happens to the tops of the plants to know if im doing something wrong atm.. I see no burning or any other signs that they are too close but I want to catch it earlier than later.

Edit: I have my light like a foot and a half away and its at 85 degrees but its got a cooltube over it.

dont know about your problem but are you getting rid of 250? lmk

wow, all those precautions and still seem to have heat issues. is it possible you've burnt them w/ nutes...pics help a ton.

I am keeping the 250w I upped it to 400 because I have several flowering, but will go back to the 250 for smaller batches. It is possible it is nute burn because I had one that was over watered so im sure the other ones were getting close to being the same.. I guess I'll see in a couple days if theres tip burns. They aren't turning colors or anything they are just curling slightly.

Is that 85 degrees at the top of the plants?

Yeah I got a temperature guage hanging from light right at the canopy. 85.. It could possibly be getting around 88 because this was at 4PM, still not hot enough to be burning hairs I wouldn't think. Also I know that fan leaves on bottom yellow and fall off, but they are starting to creep up to the top, maybe turning yellowish halfway up.. is this the same problem?

We have the same problem in the aquarium hobby with corals. When you switch light bubls or increase wattage you can burn the plant underneath it as it isnt used to that much output with the increase in light. To counter this your raise your light higher or in saltwater we throw a few screens across the top and take one off a few days apart so they can get used to the increased light output and its not such a shock to them.

Ahh that would explain it.. How long would you say it would take to get used to them, or how long should I Keep the lights higher, and will another foot suffice?
Medium : FFOC
PH: 6.8
I have misplaced my camera-to-laptop plug and will get another for pictures asap.
