Hi everyone so my second set of leaves on my seedling are coming in and seem a little purple in the center. Is this normal? Also my tomato plants have dark purple stems right now does anyone have any experience with this and know what is going on here?

Edit.... I just got an LED system yeaterday and I put the plants under the lights for a few hours yesterday night after the sun went bye bye but did not read my lights seedling height which is way high they recommend 36"-47" and I had my tomatoes and the smaller seedling curling bad for that light so I raised it up to 40" and they seemed to have recovered from the light burn but now I'm seeing this purple stems issue this morning.

if you have 3 "Regular" seedlings 4life.............. as i can only see 3 cannabis seedlings, you say are regulars, you will only get one female................ as the usual regular fem to male ratios is 6 male to 4 females............. i take it you know how to sex the males from females 4life right ??...........

when you switch the light pattern from the veg stage light period 18/6 = (18hrs LED lights on. And 6hrs LED light off, on a timer), when you switch to 12/12 flowering trigger light pattern 12hrs on 12hrs lights off............... after 5 weeks of veg 18/6.................... you switch to flowering 12/12..................the regular plants will sex male and female......................you need to remove the males from the females ok..............

this is a male, you need to remove and kill the males as soon as you see the staminate organs as below; females show white hairs out of the calyx............ the male parts are rugby ball shaped, and no white pistilate hair coming out of the calyx.............

I just got an LED system yeaterday and I put the plants under the lights for a few hours yesterday night after the sun went bye bye

you need to set the light on a timer for these plants, the tom plants can go alongside not a problem............. 18/6 veg then 12/12 flower as above............... on a timer...............

they seemed to have recovered from the light burn

you cannot burn your plants with an LED light, not possible, they are 12 volt, and only reach 30c as a max operating temperature..................... i run my led's at 20 inch, above, when they reach 150mm tall,.............. at germ and early seedling i run them at 40 inches above................. as soon as they begin to stretch for light after hatching lower the light right down..............

now I'm seeing this purple stems issue

this is due to too low a culture temperature,..............you need to keep your grow space at 26c lights on, and 24c lights off................. or 26c lights off even better, as you need to keep you soil temperature at 22-24c........ for best culture.........................use a Ph pen to set your feed Ph at Ph6.5 to 6.8..................use an "Ec" pen to set your feed strength at Ec 0.4 for seedlings.................... this is over and above your tap water Ec.

if you dont have an electric heater 1kw floor fan heater, to keep the grow space temperature up at minimum 24c during lights off, when no heat is generated by the led's, you will need to get one, to keep the grow space temperature stable, during lights out.......................your tomato plants will also thank you for it ...ALR

Yes you are correct they are not feminized. I have never grown anything before besides planting actual flowers, tulips, etc, directly into the ground and using a hose end feeder. As for sexing plants I have read many articles but these little seedlings are my first ever so I truly have not seen the sacs in person. I am currently working on figuring out how to keep a seedling alive and healthy. I have my auto fem seeds waiting to germinate but since I'm going outside grow, besides light to supplement, i want to wait til temps level out a bit more. its currently around 75 during day but night temps drops significantly. It is recommended in my geographical location to wait till May 1 to plant seeds. I am not trying to be that rookie who jumps the gun and wrecks the babies due to inadequate temps.

My tomato plants look great in the natural sun and unfold to absorb sun. When they come in at night to go under the light within an hour the leaves are stretching upwards and they look like they are folding in and want to close up. I can only attribute this to my light which I cant really explain. Do you have some explanation as to why this would be happening? I am running a 1000w LED at the middle height for seedlings stage which they recommend 36"-45", I have them at 40" above tomato seedlings. At the minimum for my reg seedlings. The reg seedlings have no issues with the light but the tomato plants seems to despise it and look very sickly by the time the lights go out. They seem to jump back by morning and flatten out and when I place them outdoors they thrive, but as soon as those LEDs hit them its a whole different story.

you either grow them outside, or inside, you are confusing the plants, as outside the light power slowly dies away late pm, then you bring them in (Tomato), and put them under a 1000w led which tells them they are back at midday !!.................... daylight is at best 15-18w..................... you are bringing them in from 18w and putting them under 1000w....................... they fold up the leaves to protect from photo shock............

if they where germed and raised under the led only, they would not know the difference................... the daylight outside, where they spend all day.................... is a whole different, less powerful environment...... if you are in the Uk, or any where in EU with similar weather, regs will not finish outdoors................... only auto's will finish outdoors here to any benefit.............

my advice to you is, as yu are very early on in the grow, bin the regs and get some fem seeds, something very reliable and hardy for a first grow, i recommend Dutch Passion "Power Plant"................. as 9.8 out of 10 will be guaranteed female straight out of the dutch passion seed tin !!.............. these are for an indoor grow, which is recommended for best culture control, yield, pest protection and odour control.........

for an outdoor grow, Auto Frisian duck is a great starter............... for outdoor, as it's an automatic it will finish inside the 80-90 days of the outdoor season............ you say you have to wait till 1st may,.......... the soil temp needs to be at least 12-13c before you plant out................ in the Uk thats end of may, early june, harvest 1st to 3rd week of september....................... regs wont finish outdoor in Uk or northern EU............... I have already purchased my seeds. 6 white widow autos and 10 zkittles autos. I will keep those in mind though for future reference. So I am a little confused as I have heard many people use this route with good success. maybe not for tomatoes but for the other seedlings. I should not go back and forth with the seedlings? I keep them outdoors for the best lighting of the day, around 930am-3pm when temps are nice and consistent above 70F, then inside before the sun even starts setting.

As for an indoor grow I literally have a grow light in my garage suspended from a shelf its not really a controlled environment at all besides the distance from the lights. Since this is my first grow I am trying to go easy with the budget, hence no tent, I am in close to $250 USD for seeds, equipment, and nutes, soil, etc atm. Like I said these reg seeds are going to be trashed as soon as I drop the autos because I do not want a male pollinating my autos.

Can you give me a suggestion for starting my autos out whether it be directly under my light and when to move them outdoors or if I should take them outdoors right away.

Edit... these are going into grow bags and not into the ground. they will come inside when there is inclement whether or a cold front is coming through

you didant say what make your 1000w led unit is 4life ?/................... a 1000w is a nice size, you say you have spent a total of 250 dollar on 'Equipment" nutes soil etc............

there is no way you bought a 1000w led inside the 250 dollar budget right ??....what make is your led unit ?/

the unit below is 400w of light power, and uses 200watt of electricity............. it's 380 pounds sterling in the sale at the mo.......

Can you give me a suggestion for starting my autos out

you say at the mo you have a day high temp of 21c = (70F), so your night low would be around 8c ? 10c ?........ you mention frosts ??.............

you need a night low of 10-13c minimum, and a day high to suit = 75F or above..... so you can start them in the garage, under the led, (Could You Not Get A 600w HPS/), start auto's in 5ltr pots, in the garage, when the plants are showing plenty of root out the pot bottom, re pot to sacks, then put sacks outdoors........ in ground...
use a plastic bell cloche if you can get them to keep pests away.....
upload_2019-4-24_14-51-35.jpeg

the key being here, the transition temp change from the garage to the outdoor is very small............. so the plant wont get thermal root shock.................... keep soil for the 5ltr germ pots, same as the 15ltr sack soil same for both pots.................... keep soil indoors (Warmer) before you use it.

to germ the auto's medium compress soil into the 5ltr pot........... firm top of soil down with thumb, so you have a 50mm distance from soil top, to pot top, (First Growth Room), in the thumb print poke a 10mm deep hole, put the seed in (Tweezers) blunt end up, then water with 300ml at Ph6.5 @23c air temp water.......... then 'Cover" the pot top with "Clingfilm Wrap"....... and secure with elastic band round outer edge of pot.......

put the wetted germ pot under the led lights, with the light 20 inches from the pot............ your best germ temp is 18-21c.......... 64F to 69F 71F also fine !!................ you minimum night temp is stable at........53f to 57F........ night temps drop in garage have you a electric 1Kw fan heater you can put on a timer to keep night temps up in the garage ??.............

i allways germ 2 or 3 seeds for every plant i need to put out............... grow them till they are 150mm-200mm tall in the 5ltr pots, "Selects" the largest to go out in the sacks in the ground.......... 10 zkittles = 5 plants selected, 6 white widow = 3 plants elected,......................that way the runts are taken out by sight.......... and not presenting a disappointing plant runt, when it's to late, later on outside........... if this is in your own garden, there are some good auto watering set ups for the plants in the ground sacks.............

use a root stimulant untill the auto flowers are 12mm across........... then stop the stim,............ goot root = good size plants............... the roots might go through the sack if they detect water outside the sack !!....... auto's take around 90 days outdoor........... end of july to 3rd wk of August harvest......... this sort of cover is a good idea.......... where airborn pests can eat and lay eggs on the flowers............ this stops all the issues, insects raise................ used till the end of a grow................ you know you aint going out to a twig left after a cattapillar attack..

insect stripped plant..... spider mite below.

leaf minor damge.....
upload_2019-4-24_15-28-3.jpeg

these are going into grow bags and not into the ground.

as long as it's all the same temperature, including the water, same as day time air temp high 23c ?/ at the mo ?/............. and you afford some insect protection......... should be good to go for the 3 months summer grow, if in your own garden, then these are a boon for several plants.......... Thank you this is what I was looking for.

The grow light I purchased is from a brand called oneo, it's from Amazon and the link is

LED Grow Light 1000W Full Spectrum Sunlight 3500K White and Red Added Grow Lights for Indoor Plants, Better for Full Growth Flowering Fruiting Veg Seedling with Thermometer Hygrometer Amazon product ASIN B07KW3H82Q
Check out the customer photos for this light side by side comparison to the normal red and blue LED lights and the results speak for themselves. It was a steal at $95 USD. It's a 1000 watt, true output from wall was metered at 205 watts when I tested.

I have a decent sized yard but I do not plan to plant my bags into the ground, they are going into 4 gallon grow bags and I was most likely going to start and finish in the same pot. I have never transplanted and I worry about stunting my first autos. I am still waiting for day temps to rise and stay at a steady 75°f but soon that heat will climb and will get to mid 80s during the summer with some days reaching well into the 90s in the heat of the summer. Right now in the spring here in Illinois we have very fluctuating temps but it will stable out according to the 10 day forecast and it will not drop like it is now, currently only 50°f. I am 99.9% frost has passed for this year. We go from cold to hot in a very short amount of time in the northern part of the US. The middle ground is right now when it's teetering but in a few weeks it will be constantly hot with lowest temps at around 65-70°f day time and about 55-60°f night temps. My garage temps are a bit cooler than the outdoor temps but only by about 5 degrees or so give or take.

I do not have the extra cash to throw at another light atm as hps lights are relatively expensive. After this grow I will invest in a tent to keep in the garage and I will grow year round but until then I am simply going outdoors. Thank you for all the suggestions for planting outdoors, I have considered buying a small hoop tent like that one for my yard but that will be the extent of my spending at this point. Right now I have purchased the fox farm trio, it's just what the hydro store recommended and before I did research. I have botnicare cal mag plus, and pH up and down. I plan to mix my ffof, also recommended by the hydro store, with 20% perlite and add 2 tbsp of oyster shells which are pure calcium carbonate, per gallon of soil to help buffer the soil pH as I have heard ffof is a very hot soil and the buffering only lasts about 5 weeks and then will start going out of whack. Like I said next grow I will get 100% recommendations from everyone on what soil medium to use and lights etc but for now I want to make do with what I have. If you can give me any suggestions or cautions with my plan I would greatly appreciate it and once again I'm not trying to throw your auggsuggest to the side I just can't invest the extra money to essentially start over with buying stuff right now. That initial cost is a little overwhelming and this is just about to be a little hobby for me. Thanks again

@AutoLowRyder this is just one example of three fully developed plants that only got the grow light I have and doesn't even seem to have a reflective room. I did lots of research and saw results from customer images before making this decision on these lights

There is no bloom or veg switch it is true full spectrum where the red and blue lights are not
