I have 8-27 watt daytime cfl's around the sides, and 2-465 watt cfl's over tops of 1-4 week old plant, and 5 new sprouts. I want to turn on the 400watt HPS but dont know if the HPS is ok throughout the entire life cycle of the autos. Should I keep the daylights around the sides and have the 400 over them??????? My Cab is 3x3x6

Hey jhn.
MH bulbs (daylight I believe) is good for vegging
HPS is good for flowering
You could run either throughout the whole cycle. But your buds won't be as good if you used them for what their meant to be used as veg/flowering
If you run both daylight and hps (mixed spectrum) that would be even better

HPS does a very good job from start to finish IMO, but it is for flowering...MH is best for vegging, then a bunch of cfl's, then HPS. But that being said, lots of people do HPS from start to finish, and have great results!

I dont know if your going to run them together, but this hps will also make your plants wayyyy bigger if you add it to your current light setup because its adding sooo many lumens which will promote lots of growth.

I have 8 27 watt cfls for veg on sides, 2 ceramic light fixtures on each side with y splitters so 4 bulbs per side, and my 400watt HPS over top growing autos, does that sound good? I have 6 ladys 5 are new sprouts in my 3x3x6 cab

OK, Happy New Year Everyone! I added The 400watt hps along with 6 veg cfl's on the sides with 2 flowers in the mix so 8 CFL's on the sides. I transplanted and tiered all the ladies into 3 gal smart pots, filled the best I could with just a bag of OF and Hydro shops anywhere around. The Lowryder from what people have said is stunted, so shes not getting much bigger, why I dont know but shes flowering

Yea, well I got them all transplanted on time I think. I gotta build a shelf that I can move in the cab. Right now they are on like heavy chicken wire. Once they grow and I have to lower them away from the HPS I wont be able to unless I build something. So thats tomorrow
