I have some northern lights growing, and growing fast and with a lot larger leaves then any other auto I've grown. Also they seem to be forming more branches under the canopy so to speak. Branches are starting to grow out down near the bottom of the plant. Should I prune or trim these lower branches? Will it shock my plant to negetively? Will it hurt my end yeild? Or will it help send nutrients upwards instead of so low on the plat?? Also those big leaves are really blocking all the new growth, but I know not to trim them cause they have all the"goodstuff" in them.

I wouldn't remove any branches at this time.I would remove those lower leaves that are touching the soil.If you have some leaves that are hiding some branch tips just tuck them out of the way so the new branch growth receives more light.Latter on you may find some of the very bottom branches get hidden by the top growth and can't receive any light and are very small and you can remove these so the plant will consentrate on the larger upper branches.

Interesting post!

A little something ......

I grew two DP Autoxtremes, both plants grew almost identically in 15l pots. At around 6 weeks I trimmed everything from the lower third of off one the plants as an experiment. It ended up yielding almost 6oz as where the other one only 4oz with some shittier buds on the lower branches.

Your plant still looks a bit small to be trimming as you don't want to upset it too much before it's hardy enough to take it. :)

yeah nammy is right the bottom four leaves or so that are almost in the soil you can pinch or cut off n thatll be juuust fine I don it every grow as well as blade and some leaf removal.Autos can handle more trimming and things as flowering progresses AND as long as its healthy its ok to do that. But tucking and single blade of single leaves are your ticket to filling out your wee lovely there.looks good too btw.tuck and do some easy leaf manipulation untill its stronger and fuller making sure to open them lowers open by either trimming single blades and tucking whole leaves.and by blades I mean like One blade per leaf of NO MORE than say two or three leaves.working your tucking and making sure to spin your plant I think youll be amazed at how well that can work.

with auto you never really wanna trim off too much too early untill its fully into flowring full on then leaves and some smaller lowers can be taken but in my honest opinion youd be doing yourself a favor if you left them on doing the tucking n so on.but to each his own ofcourse.plant looks great btw!

Thanks namvet, robblunt, and eyes on fire!!!! Seriously good info fellas!! I started tucking some big leaves today and already noticed the branches and leaves grow a bit more because of it!

And I'll get rid of those few lower leaves that are almost touching the dirt!

I got the same Problem im growing Autoseeds Gorilla glue and the plant is very Bushy with leaves the size of my hands and shes only 10" tall. Just entered the Stretch and ive been tucking where i can but its getting unruly ive heard if i do trim a few leafs do as little as possible and feed her kelp extract food to help with rebuilding. Drottogrow did you end up triming and if so did it hurt your plant?

Healthy looking young lady, my friend.
Tuck when you can, but don't be scared to remove a leaf or two, just don't take many,.at one time.
I try to wait until she is flowering real good, before I remove the most all of the big fans. But everyone is different, but good luck with your plant.

Been wanting to know this question myself! So i trimmed my auto's completly removing any lower brances and leaf's blocking light .. pritty much just left all top node's of eash branch stem on as where growing everywhere.. they're at week 5 and have been pre flowering for couple of week's not sure if this was early and harsh to the plant's i will find out soon enough.! I hoping if anything shock them once they don't do it again hopefully will recovery soon enough and let everything concrentrate on the top node's of plant's !
