Indoor Pruning/trimming 3-4 week old autos.

If I'm not planning on training, I'll clip the first set of brances that come in, along with the first and 2nd set of leaves after 4 weeks.
Hasn't had any negative effects on any autos I've done so far.

@DrOttogrow, autos are alot tougher, than alot of people think, I treat them like photos,or very similar to photos, plus I take leaves off all the time, just not to many at one time, but that depends on the plants size.
GoodLuck with your grows.

Duuudeee... I stressed my Northern Lights out so much, She went from a "65 day" plant, into being a 108 day plant lmao.
:pass:

...of course, My stressing included 4 days of complete darkness, followed by a week of the "GLR" light schedule, back to 18/6... With heavy lst and defoliation all the way up until her flowers started getting frosty.

Ive been doing some experimenting with pruning and from what ive gathered its good to have them lower leaves just as a insurance policy for nute burn or other issues. And i dont prune until after the preflower stretch bc the plant relys on them leaves to pull nitrogen from them to feed the fast growth. But thats just what ive learned from my grows. Instead of pruning i recommend LST to optimize your lighting to keep as much as the buds in the "sweet spot" of your lights. When i use the fabric pots i cut a slit and put a little zip tie to tie down too. works great.

Hey Dichoti! And hello to everyone reading. I'm growing a Critical Purple. She is at the end of week 3. The fan leaves on her were huge and she's short...anyways, they were blocking all of the light from penetrating the lower nodes. I did remove them. Do you think it was too early? Here is what she looks like now...

Shes def. Stunted she should be way bigger than that. Did u transplant or have your light to close? I completely disagree with choping a auto especially that early theres no need for it. LST done right gives better results with very little chance for ill effects when they go into shock they stop growing but their interal clock keeps ticking. I hardley ever cut of lower growth and when and if I do its because the plant is so big and full It wont effect it. And even then I dont like to chance it. Pruning and toping is better suited for photos bc of their lifespan. Autos can be toped and pruned but why chance it this is a good example of why not to do it.

Time will tell.
It really depends on what you're going for, Plant wise. Do you want a huge shrub, a little nub full of buds, or a plant that's full of huge nugs?
I generally go for a "shrub full of nugs".
I've got one that topping early stressed out, that's 4' tall, and blocking the lights to my two blackberry kush.

The level of stress varies in my tent. The two bbk were treated as I previously stated, then LST'd.
The BS99 in the back was topped at the 2nd node, tied down, stretched out, eaten by gnats....etc etc. So much stress that it isn't an auto anymore.
I think what I'm getting at is "Experiment. What's the worse that'll happen? Won't auto? Dies? Seeds come in multipacks, So unless that's your only bean, Experiment. See what happens, And don't re-do the stuff that doesn't work."

I haven't grown that strain, So I can't comment on it, Although, I do disagree with your last few lines. Unless you're working with something lower than an f5, and it isn't stable, You really don't have to worry much any more... Although you really have to watch your breeders.

Some strains are more hearty than others but toping is still a risk and i like to give my plants everyday i can for max yield . and yea beans come in multiples but I like to make every one count. Ive done supercroping and other high stress training and some plants do well with it others dont. But if your still a beginner id recommend getting comfortable with autos before trying it. LSt Is save and achieves the same result.
