I also had a mouse problem a couple years back. I had just planted some seeds that hadn't even broken the soil yet. Little bastards dug the seeds up and ate them. I went on a rampage after that, checking everything that comes through the floor, pipes, cables, etc. I stuffed steel wool in all the openings and haven't had a problem since.
