got some questions
can i fit 12 auto flowers in a five by five grow tent with 1000 watt dimmable hps?
would that work and get good yeild im trying for a pound is that reasonable?
got five northern lights royal queen seeds
five prymaid white widow
five prymaid anesthisia
one kritikal bilbo all AUTOS
anyone know about these seeds? good bad?
and sense there autos i should jsut germinate in bag with paper towel
and just put the seeds in five gallon pots? instead of using proporgation tray and heating mat?
i got biotaincare nutes does anyone know anything about feeding schedule for them nutes got pro grow liquid karma cal mag and pure tea in coco coir.
any feeding suggestions?
i heard with coco you feed 2 gallons for 12 plants every day at least. is that true?

any input would be helpful thanks

Hi 401, welcome to AFN. I you have a chance stop by the Introductions section and tell folks a little about yourself.

Since this sounds like your first auto grow I would start with just a few plants for the first grow. I like to allow about 4 sq. ft. per plant so running 12 plants in a 25 sq. ft. tent would really be tight. You need space so that you can easily inspect each plant for issues and provide good air circulation around them.

I would stay away from coco until you have a few grows under your belt as it can be very unforgiving. I would go with a quality potting soil that does not contain any added nutrients as autos tend to be nute sensitive when they first start out.

A 1000 watt HPS gives off a lot of heat, hope you have really good ventilation in your tent. How tall is it?

Sounds like you will be a legal grower but do you have any concerns with odors from the tent?

I would get a soil type pH probe like an accurate 8 should be helpful even if you do eventually switch to coco. If you do decide to go coco from the start you will need both pH and ppm meters.

the tent is 78 inches i got a 200 cfm 4 inch duct fan with scrubber to vent out duck work out of house got a clip on fan as well
and ya i got nutes and ppm and ph meters both of them.
so what if i did 8 plants in that space wood that be better?
i also already have the coco coir and all nutes as long as i always check my pph ppm i should be fine to grow in coco first time no?

Yes, depending on your pot size.

would that work and get good yeild im trying for a pound is that reasonable?

Thinking 20 - 40 grams per plant = 12 x 20 / 12 x 40 should be between 240 - 480 grams if all 12 are succesfull

got five northern lights royal queen seeds

nice!

five prymaid white widow

me too! I've just put 2 in the soil, from green house not prymaid!

five prymaid anesthisia

never heard of! but gonna look that up!

one kritikal bilbo all AUTOS

nice and euuuf ceeeurse these izze di afn! Although cud be possibruh to be photos I had nuuuut expeteeeed otherwiseeuh! *read in a really bad french accent*

anyone know about these seeds? good bad?

I don't know prymaid but you got some good strains. Royal queen is from what I hear very good but haven't grown from them!

and sense there autos i should jsut germinate in bag with paper towel

Not a single seed in the world should be in a paper towel but is possible ofc., straight into the pot you're going to use till harvest is the best and preferably only way I would advice.

and just put the seeds in five gallon pots? instead of using proporgation tray and heating mat?

As I just stated yes! If 5 gall fits your room 5 times by any means yes go ahead! don't do the propagation stuff auto's don't like transplants and stunting = loss of yield!

i got biotaincare nutes does anyone know anything about feeding schedule for them nutes got pro grow liquid karma cal mag and pure tea in coco coir.

Can't help you here!

any feeding suggestions?

melasse, melasse, melasse, melasse, melasse, melasse, melasse, ... does wonders! + make sure you feed them well but also not too well!

i heard with coco you feed 2 gallons for 12 plants every day at least. is that true?

I think you mean water 2 gallons? no idea you should lift your pot if it's light as a feather (or close to being light as a feather) it's time to water! Don't let them wilt!

any input would be helpful thanks

reading reading reading!
- read the stickies!
- read grow guides (find a bunch on google)
- watch video's
- have fun
- feel your plants, think about what they're trying to tell you and act when needed!
- ask questions
- and pass me a joint when you're finished! jk :D

I'm a LED bigot so can't really tell you much about the HPS... LEDs are much cooler, supposedly more lumens per watt too, so cheaper to run.

That tent sounds nice. A lot of seed vendors state yields as n grams m2/SOG which means what an average yield would be in a tent full of flowers (basically). Your tent size is slightly larger than a square meter, so doing a sea of green you can expect to yield what the vendors advertise. I agree that 12 is very agressive. I started with 5 dwarf and 1 small, plant(s). I have my hands full.

Regarding seeds... I germinated using the paper towel in a bag method, putting it on the top of my refrig, near the back where it's dark'ish and warm. Every seed of every species showed a tap root in less than two days. Sowing directly in the final container is an option. I've adopted this method and it's taken four days from seed to seeing the little green head pop out of the soil. There's a trick to starting a seed in a large container. You've only got to keep the middle moist, keeping the soil nice and moist, not wet. I saw someone using this trick here and copied them. As the plant grows you just keep widening the circle of moisture until eventually you're maintaining moist soil in the entire container.

If these are of medium height. I'm thinking six will do. BUT and this is a big ol but... Check out what people here are doing with just one or two plants. The more I observe here, the more I'm of the opinion that growing less and nurturing the hell out of them is more fun and just as rewarding. I'm leaning in that direction. I've seen one plant (White LSD) fill an entire tent and yield very high. I'm starting to stagger my grows and also grow different strains with different harvest times. All to keep the supply more constant rather than doing one big harvest and waiting for months again to get another flower.

I don't know anything about your vendor but I'm sure someone here does. Also try searching here and elsewhere for people who've grown your strains so you know what to expect and can see photo's and/or videos of actual grows using your strain.

Regarding your nute's, once again, I googled until I found someone who was using most of what I had already and adopted their program, which is working quite well for me.

I agree that growing in soil is great if you've never done this before. I've seen experienced growers here have a real challenge switching to coco so I can imaging that for the first try this might be complicated. Soil is easy and most agree that it will produce the finest tasting bud imaginable.

I wish you the best and rest assured that no matter what you do, people will help you and barring some unforeseen disaster, you are going to harvest some quality meds for you and your patients. There's lots of us newbies here so you are in good company and have a lot to compare to.

Good luck 401! Hurry up and start growing!

P.S. These things are quite odoriferous and even though legal, a carbon filter is highly suggested. There is still a concern that the odor will attract savvy thieves looking to take your precious harvest.

Couple things i didn't see, Air intake, exhaust, a fan, ph meter and probe (preferably both)?

in your situation airflow is the key,,IMO if you plant 6 in place of 12 with bigger pots you will have much better results....

:goodluck:

so maybe ill just try 8 the most plants in space i do have exhaust with away of exhausting outside.
i hope coco isnt a problem cuz i already bought it should i really get soil instead?? idk what to do now...

Coco growing is really a type of hydroponics. The coco provides no nutrition on its own it just provides support for the plant and roots. A number of folks here have had issues with high salt content in their coco so you really need to soak and wash it well before use.

Plants in coco will probably need to be watered daily, growing should be fun so make sure you don't take on too much first time around.

I am not sure a 4 inch fan and scrubber will pull enough heat out of the tent but since you will be starting on the lights lowest setting to start you will have a little time to see how your temps do.
