So for my next indoor grow, I'm switching from RDWC set up to soil.. Love the hydro but for my current situation its alot of man hours put into that which I just don't have.. so .. I'm going to be trying the oh soo famous MI5 as well as auto assasin, nine between the two. I have never done soil indoors, I do have a few concerns like.. are pests a common thing (moreso than hydroponics).. watering schedule, how much how often.. premixed soil suggestions. I will most likely be using botanicare line and I would like to stay organic. Any and all suggestions are appreciated, Thank You!

Two good strains you've picked. I love the Mi5 especially. Just about my favorite auto strain. Their are many choices for soil but the two most common are a 50/50 mix of Fox Farms Happy Frog and Ocean Forest. The other is Pro Mix, which is what I use. How often you water will depend to a degree on what type of lights you are using. HPS, because of their greater heat output, will dry out soil faster than LEDs, CFLs, etc. Generally speaking you might have to water every 3 days or so under HPS, about 4 days under the others. The key with soil is to learn to judge the weight of your pots and to only water when they feel light. Plants in soil need to dry out between waterings. Too much water can suffocate the roots. As far as pests, they really are no more common in soil compared to hydro, unless you use unsterlized soil. The products I mentioned are all sterilized. Pot size is also something to consider. Three gallon is a good fit for the strains you plan on growing.

Thanks Muddy! I am using a 1000w hps in a 4x4x7 tent and most likely 5 gallon buckets, I always like to have a lot of root space or do you think it wouldn't make a difference in my case?

I haven't seen a whole lot of benefit to using 5 gallon pots for the strains you are planning. Personally I would go for more plants in 3 gallon pots than less in 5 gallon. I think you'll get a higher total yield in the end from having more plants in 3 gallon pots.
