Now, here is where I’d really appreciate some input from all you fine members of AFN...

I’ll be growing in promix hp, i’d Like your input on pot size. I plan to use airpots. I currently have one that is approximately 20l, but I’m pretty sure most would agree that considering the strain (sour crack) it would be pointless. Now, here is the second part of this inquiry. Could I possibly run the 3 sour crack in much smaller pots and still have room in the 2x4 for a 4th plant in my 20l airpot of a medium to large size strain? If not I think I’ll just run the 3 SC with one of them in the 20l pot as an experiment to see if it affects yield/growth. Thanks in advance. I appreciate any and all input.

If you were running coco, I’d say your plan would work. I don’t have enough experience with peat, but I think you need bigger pots for that media.

The other concern would be trying to manage an even canopy with 3 small and 1 large plant. You’ll have to elevate the sour cracks somehow. Shouldn’t be too difficult, a platform of some sort.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. My lights are independent of one another so light height management is a snap (autocobs) but you think that is a large enough footprint? I’ve read some comments that you can place 2-3 sour cracks in the space you’d use for one larger plant.

Depends on pot size I’d say. But there’s a point where it becomes counter intuitive to reduce the pot size, and thus the size of the plant (at least I think this is true of peat and traditional soils). So it depends on how big the plant can potentially get. If I were to make an educated guess, I’d try 2 SC in 3 gals? I’m new to the auto realm so I’m not the best to give advice but I’m interested in SC too so I hope to keep the thread up top! :smoking:

That’s what I was thinking. A waste in that sized pot. Thinking I’ll pick up 3 11’s this week. I would really like to add that 4th plant provided the feedback I get isn’t all going to be that the 2x4 isn’t enough room

just grabbed my measureing tape cause my head dont work in feet and inchs but i would say you could fit four 11L pots in a 2 x4 easily enough especially since its the sour crack which dont tend to get out of control big hey if it get too tight in there take one out and put in beside the window to finish off getting to right time of year plenty of light that what id do anyway. 3 SC on there own should give you a nice yield if you choose to go that route either

I like the way you think stoney T! Window as a worst case scenario! But if I do add a 4th I’m going to a different strain in the larger airpot. Based on what I’ve seen, I think it would be unreasonable for me to expect more than 6oz from the 3 SC and be happy with anything over 3.5oz which is why I’d really like to add a 4th. I plan on making either edibles or oil with at least half of it. I got a magic butter machine that needs to be pulled out of the closet!

Ok, picked up 3 airpots on the way home from work. I believe they’re 3gal or 11l (almost the same isn’t it?) I’m probably just going to start the 3 SC as I don’t have any other beans and the store I buy seeds from is all out of autos. I figure when the Mephisto store opens I’ll place an order and if it looks like I have room in the tent for another plant I’ll add it later and have it veg while the others finish up.
