I am pleased to be bringing you Pineapple Poison and Lava Freeze by SSSC featuring biotabs and the Solar System UVB lights by California Lightworks.

The lights and the beans were gifted from SSSC and I'm very grateful and excited to see what I can do! I have never used UVB before in a grow but it is meant to increase potency and resin development. They are only to be used the last 2-3 weeks of flower for a couple hours a day during lights on so have not been added to my set up yet.

Equipment list as follows
  • 1x1x2m grow tent.
  • 600w dimmable hps, extractor fans and filter. I don't remember the specs! A tower fan and several clip on fans are used for circulation.
  • 50/50 lightmix and Perlite with 2in clay pebbles at bottom of autopots
  • 15l autopot is the final home
  • Full biotabs line- Starter kit, Silicium Flash, Boom boom spray, Bio PK 5-8. Biobizz grow used in the beginning
  • Seeds popped in pure coco watered with worm cast tea
  • Plants will be watered with plain tap water left for 24hrs minimum. No pH check
I germinated my seeds by just putting them into small cups of moist coco. I watered with diluted worm cast tea for the first day and sprayed the inside of the humidity dome.

Germination pic of SSSC Pineapple Poison (yellow flag) and lava freeze (silver flag).

Lava Freeze was quick off the mark! To my surprise she shot up within 48 hours! Unfortunately, she still had her helmet on. No biggie! She'll survive! I sprayed her with water to soften the seed casing so that she might be able to remove it herself. I completely forgot about checking on her and when I finally remembered the next day she didn't look too good. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and helped her remove it but put another seed in coco just in case. Lo and behold she died and another Lava Freeze was up and ready to go in 48hrs. Pineapple poison's start in life was a lot less eventful! She was up in 3 days unlike the 2 of her sister. Her growth appears to be a little slow but I know the seedling stage to be notoriously tedious so I'm just trying not to mother too much!

This is pic of day 3 of the Pineapple Poison and almost day 1 of Lava Freeze #2. You can just about see LF peeking so I circled her in silver ofc. After this pic Pineapple Poison was given her first feed of biobizz grow.

They will remain in the cups for the first 7-10 days of life or when the roots reach the bottom. The reason they start their lives in little cups is that I tend to over water and stunt them otherwise. This way is more hands off for me and my babies seem to like it better. That is all for now! I shall update soon once I repot the girls in a couple days. I'm currently undecided whether I should go straight to 15l autopot or veg in a smaller pot for a week or two...... decisions decisions!

I need you feeding that journal here, not a blog...

Pineapple Poison day 17. This pic was taken when she had already spent 7 days in her home and was fimmed a few days prior.

I bent her over in order to start training after this pic was taken.

Day 24. She has taken very well to training and has lots of branching and growth. She grows so fast I train her a little each day. I tend to be a little heavy handed so find it better to train little and often.

She has a little bit of yellowing on her leaves but her growth is so beautiful, I'll forgive her! I was told to expect a little bit of yellowing as the plant starts to feed, from the biotabs in the pot, so am not concerned about this. Overall her growth seems to be fine so I'm not going to sweat the small stuff.

Day 31. She still has a bit of yellowing but it does not seem to be spreading so I am not letting it bother me.

She has filled out a lot more than before.

Lava Freeze had a rough start by me. I pot her up after only 5/6 days in a cup as I was so impatient to get her into her final home.

Day 14 after having spent a week in her big pot.

She is so tiny compared to her big sister. I was a little worried about her but I knew as long as she was still standing, and looked healthy, she was fine. Her roots were still doing their thing down below and it was only a matter of time before I saw that up top.

Day 21 having finally started focusing on growth up top!

I was so excited to see the growth up top that I couldn't wait to chop it off! This pic was taken a couple days after I fimmed her. I also bent her over to start training after this pic was taken.

This is her today on day 28

She's a little bit behind but is catching up quickly!

I am following the biotabs "water only" method. Although I am giving 2ml/l of orgatrex weekly along with the bactrex. Orgatrex is not needed when following the water only method however I don't see how it could hurt. The biotabs website also said that it's fine to do so. They also get sprayed weekly with the boom boom spray.

I love the boom boom spray. It seems that no matter how hard I train the plants, they recover within 24 hours. I'm tempted to start spraying twice a week but it works so well as is, I don't want to do too much. I'm aware that sometimes less is more in these situations.

Gotcha! Won't happen again!
these are photo plants aren't they at least you can veg them as long as needed before you flip them also do you normally grow autos and photo girls

Yup! These are photos and I'm not in a rush to flip them as I've got autos on the way atm. I do tend to grow both autos and photos. I started growing photos from clones so there's a soft spot in my heart for them! I find there's more room for error with photos. If it all goes to pot you can always cut a few clones and start again! I like autos for the variety in phenos and genetics. I tend to grow photos in summer when it's hot and I don't want my lights on for long, and do autos in winter when I need the heat. It's not the height of summer yet so I can do both for the time being and let these two veg for as long as needed! Tbh I don't see much difference in either except the timer!
