Indoor Ph too high! what is the best way to lower it?

Hello si. These guys are on. I wouldn't use that hydro chemical ph down with soil and organic nutes like you have. You run the risk of killing your micro herd left and right and that's no good, mate. I suggest the Earth Juice Crystals like Poops mentioned. I use their ph down and Silica Blast by Botanicare for ph up. Both are ok for use with soil, soil-less and organics. I was using the ph up and down from General Hydroponics and was running into problems since I use soil-less Promix and organic nutrients, so I got the other stuff.

Are you just about to start your plant or is it already going? 7 is about standard for a good mix. If you are just starting out and using just PLAIN ph water for feeds then get the ph down for organics and ph your water to 6.4-6.5. As it dries it works back up to the original 7, which is fine. The crystals only take a little, just like the liquid stuff. If you can't wait or can't afford yet, then you can use vinegar(preferably apple cider vinegar) to lower the ph of your water until you can get the Earth Juice stuff.

When you start feeding with nutes, they will bring your ph down in your water and your soil, and sometimes within an acceptable range. 6-6.5. That is fine, as I said it will go from your feed of lower 6s and work it's way through the ph spectrum back up to near 7 as it dries. This gives you good access to all of the nutrients in the range from 6.3-6.9. If the nutes bring your water down below 6, then add a little ph up to get it around 6.3-6.5. If you have any other questions, you let me know, eh? I hope for the best.

Gotcha. All of that info still stands and is my strongest recommendation, my friend.

I have bn using same ph down in my garden and haven't really noticed a difference! Although after reading this Im gonna look for a more natural way of bringing ph down! :)

What about good 'ol white vinegar? The acetate feeds the bacteria, and just a tiny bit goes a long way to lowering ph

in soil... sulfur..... agway or local nursey / garden center should habve...

I use aluminum sulfate... cuz its faster... but really the slower sulfur is best for that... also organic... not sure on aluminum sulfate but i thinks its ok....

evverything else sounds spot on... though ph down is reall phosphoric acid.... which as long as you keep it in low doses (for ph buffering) I wouldn't think it would hurt your micro herd... :toke:

Where do you recomend buy this earth juice up and down squid? I better poor out that general hydrophonics ph+ and - it seems and replace it with an all organic product...

Ive also been looking for some alternatives. You guys are great thats why I love this site. Can I add sulfur to my nutes to lower the ph or does it have to be added directly to the soil.
