Hi all,

I am preparing my substrate for my new auto grow. I have mixed up 60% organic soil, 30% Coco coir and 10% perlite. I then watered the substrate with cal/mag. The PH run off is around 7.0 - If I want to lower the PH of the soil to say 6.5 can I flush the substrate until the run off reads 6.5 or there abouts?

Thanks in advance!

PH Calculation Guide by GoAuto6

Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....

If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

So according to the chart, your soil pH is closer to 7.5

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

I'd personally run 10 litres or so of just PH'd water (6.0) through the pot .... THEN make a light feed and PH to 6.0-6.2 (5 litres or so) and then check the run off.

The plants will droop for a bit because of this (over watering) .. but should get your ph in check. and back on track. :D

You're a gem!! The good thing is I haven't planted the seed yet! I want the environment perfect before she goes in! [emoji38][emoji106]
