Indoor PH Down??? Ughh

I would not use urea on my MJ plants ever. It's the lowest quality form of nitrogen you can provide to your plants, the most common impurity of synthetic urea is biuret, which impairs growth. It also has a high nitrogen concentration (something like 46%) which will easily burn your plants, not to mention its a salt so if you don't flush it out you're gonna be left with that nasty taste in your bud...Urea is also not very compatible with other fertilizers, im thinking because of the high nitrogen in it.

Just my 2 cents, please correct me if i'm wrong, but that's what a little bit of research has led me to believe. I would stick with getting the Earth Juice Ph up and down or get big buddhas recipe. Pretty much the same thing that's in the earth juice.

What is C.A. crystals?

I bought a bottle of battery acid from the local car parts store and mix is with staight water. It's sulfuric acid and diluted is the very same solution sold as fish aquarium pH down. I think I use 500ml/25ml ratio - makes this stuff last years.

C.A. = Citric Acid. The food-grade type.

Good luck with the battery acid dude. :peace:

Seconded. Urea is also a slow-release nitrogen which is really not what weed likes. Nitric is the best because it's fast-acting.

I was trying to find out last night but didn't in the end. Not surprised though since I robbed the idea off of another organic ph down brand and they all seem to be the same. ;)

I use battery acid (sulfuric acid) in my hydro systems. It's a great way to add a little more sulfur to the mix, which enhances terpene production anyways. Plus, it's SOOO cheap. A small container costs 4 bucks and lasts probably a solid 8 months for me.

Just checked my Earth Juice bottles. They don't give detailed ingredients, but the pH Down states that the primary ingredient is citric acid, and the pH Up is potassium bicarbonate. Not unlike the traditional organic pH adjusters lemon juice and baking soda. But the lemon juice is only ~5% citric acid, so you need more of it and it's harder to be precise. The potassium bicarbonate is superior to sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) because it does not introduce salts into your growing medium. My guess is that Earth Juice also adds in some other elements to stabilize the effect of these products. I've found that there is no drift over time like you see with lemon juice or vinegar, and the pH is just as stable with these products as when I used non-organic pH adjusters.

If you have some other means of getting citric acid and potassium bicarbonate granules, then you've basically got the same thing to make your own adjuster. For me it was much easier to go to my hydro shop and buy both bottles for $25. I have a supply that will last me years if not a lifetime.
