Are these a good preventative in the grow space? How would they work with constant venting going on?

Directly answering your questions:
1) Are these a good preventative in the grow space?
Yes, they'll kill any insects exposed to their vapor.
2) How would they work with constant venting going on?
They can't. You need to close things up for them to work.

Each weekend, I "fumigate" my tent using pest strips. I have every reason to believe that pest strips closed-up within your tent for a couple hours will rather reliably and safely, including zero residual pesticide, kill every flying and crawling (air-exposed) insect, even mites (but not insects in the soil/medium).

I put 2 strips out in my approx. 12 sq. ft./ 100 cubic ft. tent, let the lights bring the air temperature hotter, to low 80s (faster insect metabolism, including respiration, at higher temps.). Then close down -- turn off any exhaust fans and significant heat sources (lights). Or course, there is always a fan going within the now mostly sealed-off tent. You may want to close off your fresh air intake screens, if these are letting out the poison (which you'll smell). I let the plants sit in darkness (going 24/7, the only time they ever get it), during which the pesticide vapor concentration gets high, likely much higher than normal concentrations, with these strips effective in much larger rooms that are not sealed. To clear out the poison, turn the exhaust fan on and filter out the poison/smell. I then wrap up the strips in aluminum foil until their next use. Opening the strips to air for just hours at a time puts no real wear on them -- they'll last years for this use.

Cannabis has no mechanisms to absorb from air any organic compound, much less this specific pesticide, in gaseous/vapor state. Restated, the plant never selectively or otherwise absorbs, much less bothers to transport, store, metabolize, etc. this pesticide dissolved in the air. Keep in mind, this involves gas/vapor, not liquid droplet aerosols that settle and also have solvents. Yes, some of the gaseous poison molecules will, theoretically, diffuse into the plant material, but by the same logic, these will quickly diffuse out and none remain.

I think using pest strips weekly is a perfectly good way, including not at all affecting the herbs, to defend against and rather thoroughly kill flying and surface crawling insects, particularly, when combined with one or more other methods. For example, I also spray down the plants about once each week (during veg. growth) with Captain Jack's Spinosad, and put neem into the soil up to early bloom.

[This all presumes that one fully accepts use of synthetic pesticides where actually safe, not affecting the product, effective, etc.].

Thanks for the detailed response.
