Just an fyi for anyone encountering smell issues like myself:

I have a nice set up (me thinks), good tent, good fans, nice lights, decent carbon filter. The way I have things set up is that the air from the grow area is pumped into another section of the house so the plant has good temperature control and CO2 requirements. However this is an issue as my house has many guests and when the little ladies start to flower...they get smelly and so does the house!

I heard some rumors, went to amazon, ordered 2 cheap ozone generators put one out in the section where the exhaust leaves and it helped a bit. After while (and more flowering) I decided to throw one in the grow room itself also and put the generator at about half the max output. Within 30 mins the smell entirely went away entirely and my house is now scent free. Honestly the best investment I have made besides my EC meter and the seeds them selves ;)

Here is the link to the one I bought:

As a warning: ozone in certain circumstances is a VERY DANGEROUS compound. Do your research before using!

Yeah, it works, it will kill spores, bacteria and neutralise ethylene amongst many others. But be very weary, ozone oxidises everything. While your plants MAY be safe, http://www.hort.cornell.edu/mattson/leatherwood/ ANYTHING that can rust, will do so. A mate had a fish tank in a shed with co2 injection into the water, all his stuff in the shed, tools, nails, screws, electrical fittings and so on started to rust. Plastics got brittle and crumbly.
Not sure what ozone EXACTLY will do to de-humidifiers, chillers, heaters, fans, lights and so on, but it sure as hell won't be to their advantage. Concentration and length of exposure plays a role of course, but monitoring ozone levels is an expensive and difficult task, so better safe than sorry would be my take.....!

Ozone kills smells, but if I were you, Id not have it in the tent and vent any ozone containing air outside. Its not good for your health. Careful, high concentrations and prolonged exposure can cause very serious health issues, and potentially death!
--------------
Breathing ground-level ozone can result in a number of health effects that are observed in broad segments of the population. Some of these effects include:

  • Induction of respiratory symptoms
  • Decrements in lung function
  • Inflammation of airways
Respiratory symptoms can include:

  • Coughing
  • Throat irritation
  • Pain, burning, or discomfort in the chest when taking a deep breath
  • Chest tightness, wheezing, or shortness of breath
In addition to these effects, evidence from observational studies strongly indicates that higher daily ozone concentrations are associated with increased asthma attacks, increased hospital admissions, increased daily mortality, and other markers of morbidity. The consistency and coherence of the evidence for effects upon asthmatics suggests that ozone can make asthma symptoms worse and can increase sensitivity to asthma triggers.

Correct me if im wrong, but the clean fresh smell after a lightning storm is caused by lightning creating o3 which is highly reactive with many thinks including odors. Ive seen it used to clean cars that nothing else could, and when they do they close the whole car up and pump ozone in. If it were dangerous to electronics or metal id think this would cause major issues. Dont get me wrong i know there are dangers and health concerns with using ozone, but it is a naturally occurring compound and i think is feared more than its understood.

It does occur naturally but not concentrated and all the time like a generator does. they definitely kill all your plastic stuff.
I wouldn't use one in my room because it will destroy it after whyl. do a test if you dont think so.
put find something plastic and put a piece of tape on it somewhere, then expose it to the generator for about a week. Then peal off the tape, you will see that the plastic under the tape is not faded.

Build an inline box, put your generator in there, then vent the box outside using a dryer vent. Safe and effective!

That would be the safe way, but I doubt it would it would be effective due to the very short time the ozone would have to do its business, i.e. the time it takes the airmass to move from the inline box to outlet. A curious side effect could be that passersby might take to ringing the door bell and asking to have their molars checked out......ozone is that smell of the dentist.....they use it to sterilise the prongs and thongs that goes into the kisser.

Personally I wouldn't worry about any health effect, unless I decided to camp out in the grow room for a very prolonged weekend, but the thought of all the stuff and associated wonga in the grow room..........would sure keep me wide awake!!
