Outdoor Strategies

Hi all I'm a brand new grower. And must have been reading constantly for about the last month on how to grow. I have taken the leap and got myself some black cream seeds also trying out dark devil and somango. Was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice as this is my first grow. I am not able to grow under lights at the moment. So I am growing these outside. I have germinated them and they are all in jiffy pellets at the moment and seem to be doing ok. I'm about a week in and all for have split thier shell and are about 1" tall. Advice on what soil nutes and anything else would be much appreciated. Also how much could I realistically expect to yield from a black cream plant grown outside in the uk

Hi Dannyo, this is my sixth year of outdoor growing in the uk. I germ my seeds in smallish pots in compost (asda, 3x50L for £10) and stick them on the windowsill until the weather is nice enough to stick them outside during the day and bring them in at night until round about mid May. This is when they are potted on to 50L pots. You will only really need to water your plants as they will take everything out of the compost during vegging leaving you to feed them just about what ever you like during flowering. I use Dutch Pro outside A and B and a range from CX Hydroponics (an Aussie company). I have grown 30 plus strains outside and they all hit between 6 and 10 feet tall so be warned your plants grow big. As to how much depends on the weather and if you have an early finishing strain, I normally get enough to last me 6 months from 7 plants. At the moment I have some early flowering Sativa about 2" tall going so your on course mate. Any more questions fire away dude.

hello to all,
weather can be of great help or can lead to great disasters for those who are growing outside, like me.
here are some sites i find usefull and somehow accurate when observing weather:
for global go to www.accuweather.com and www.windfinder.com
and for those in europe www.sat24.com
happy growing and peace to all

How is the quality of outdoor AF's?

Have a butt load of feminized seeds I made. Could possibly keep inside on bad days, and/or move in at night for more light. Never had an auto over 3 foot, so should be easy to move.

Realize Pacific northwest could be difficult, from humidity.

Have a light meter, and it goes off scale, hazy summer days, and does not under MH. Concerned with number of hours per day, with AF's. Heard 20 is optimum.

been watching loads of brown dirt warrior, how that dude get time, he must be smashing the gym 7 days a week!
or is it just carrying bags of compost! running up hills with 8 jerry cans on a stick, the mans an animal! :-D

Well Ive recently became good friends with small plane pilots in rural country and I they have told me its near impossible to spot plants from the plane even when flying slow and low. They say unless there is a pattern it almost no chance of seeing them unless they are 12 meter monsters.

I want to ask something about my second grow NEXT SUMMER, im not sure if this is the right place.
If I sproud few AUTOS on 1 MAY under 125w 6400K cfl for 20-30 day veg period and then put them outside on 1 june to flower on the sun will this guarant me good yields (2-3 oz per plant) ??

Short answer, no it will not guarantee it.
There are always much more things to consider about the grow setup than it seems at first glance. For example sun exposition, soil type, planting type, transplant stress, humidity levels, rains, pests and a ton of other stuff is important when planting outdoors. My experience with autos in a not good exposed grow was bad, the plants yielded less than an ounce except one which was bigger, but at the end I lost half of harvest because of mold, they got it because of low height and higher humidity near the ground.

Planning ahead is very important, I think you are in a great position as there is more than half year time to think about it in detail. If you need any help, you're welcome to ask:)

Cheers

Any thoughts on using sand bags filled with super soil? I think the should hould maybe 2-2.5 gallons of media and can absorb moisture through its poly weve almost like a un laminated tarp

Sand bags might work. How do you want to use them? Like a smart pot? They should work that way I would think pretty well.

Edit
or are you planning on using them more like a Swamp tube I think they would work well for that too, I was thinking about using 100 pound burlap potato sacks with two in them as a Swamp tube but that will be more like 20 or 30 gallons.
