Organic Experiments under the Scorpion Diablo

Well........ I'm off to a less than spectacular start. THIS is why I don't do direct to soil seed planting....... I had only 9 sprouts total, and three damped off. of the HUNDREDS of seeds I've started via the paper towel method, 98.8 % sprouted successfully. And i've had 3 out of all those sprouted seeds die from damping off ( Fusarium ) JUST THREE! Sorry, this really has me bugged.

So I started more seed. I want 6 total GG so I started 4 more, 1 blue Kush, as 1 of the 2 sprouted ( but the seed is 3-4 years old ), neither Blue Dream sprouted so I had 2 Fast Buds blue Dream that I've got soaking. 1 NYCD as 1 of 2 sprouted. I added 1 Trainwreck Auto and 1 Auto Afghan Mass from OO seeds. These I'll germinate in paper towel! then we'll see what happens!

Update:

Things going much better now. The plants that sprouted previously are looking good. Of the second batch that I started, this time... in paper towel, all but two seeds sprouted, and those seeds were old. all the towel sprouted seeds were transplanted and have established themselves and are doing fine.
I have one photoperiod in with them for now, the only Granddaddy Purple that sprouted ( very old, genuine Ken Estes seeds ). she was very slow to root in the starter pot. but I just transplanted it 3 days ago and growth since then is noticeable. Now hoping it's a female...... I spent a couple days hunting for some GDP regular seeds and after hitting many seedbanks, only to find they were out of stock, i finally found some! But oohh I love GDP. And I payed a painful price for them...... damn seeds are getting expensive! Thats what makes regs worthwhile, one good male and female and I'll have a lifetime supply. Imight move this one to the greenhouse if it is female. After she grows some I'll take a clone and put right on 12/12 to sex it.

Some I've got NYC Diesel, Blue Kush auto, auto Afgan Mass, GG Auto, And a Blue Dream auto.

Well this tread was left behind for a bit, in fact all these plants have been chopped and buds in jars. So I'll pick up from here with the plants now under the light. And I'm doing something a little different, organic in 10 gallon Grassroots fabric pots! I've got three Granddaddy Purple photo periods, the real deal, old stock Ken Estes from 2012! I just flipped the light to 12/12 yesterday.

Soil is a slightly new mix. Organic potting soil, 10% Coast of Maine Blueberry compost, 10% cow compost, and 10% EWC
( also Coast of Maine, very nice quality EWC! ). Each pot got about a 1/2 cup of Epsoma Garden Tone, and 2 teaspoons of Blood meal. Plants were started in 2 gallon pots. @ of the plants were in those pots too long you can see that they'd started to consume the nutrients. The transplant into the large pots should easily carry then to the finish line with nothing more than water.

Light is adjusted so that I'm averaging 750 PPFD. I water with RO water with 80 ppms of cal-mag, PH 6.4

Coast of Maine lobster compost is a great product. I suspect their other products are of similar quality.

I transplanted the Estes Granddaddy Purps to 10 gallon Grassroots pots. Pots contain my organic soil mix. These girls had been too long in their 2 gallon pots and were getting hungry, yellowed a bit. bounced back quickly after transplant! Been on 12/12 about a week now and they're flowering nicely. If I'd had a fourth they'd have filled this space completely. Got a seed momma auto in with htem, 12/12 won't matter, she's just building seeds. Also got an Azure Duck. I'll get a pick of her later.
Ladies sure are loving the Scorpion Diablo!

Update:

Wow! Been busy between trying to start a seed and clone business and HLG stuff!

My GDP are looking wonderful and have started stacking buds. No signs of nutrient issues. Going to do an EWC slurry for a top dressing tomorrow. Not much smell yet. I'm very pleased with these ladies!

So how is the plain Coast of Maine media doing? I definitely like their lobster compost.

I blended the compost into the soil mix, along with coast of Maine's EWC. I'm pleased with the results so far! I've used their lobster compost but I'm leery of handling it as I've have shellfish allergy, so I wear gloves and a mask when I use it! I've been happy with there products. Used their compost in my veggie beds this year also.
