Never used a time release but recycling soil can be done I've done it lots .I use a cheap organic commercial brand as a base an add different things over the years I've added a few things here or there but the main stuff stays the same I like brewing teas so it's never fully just what the soil has to offer but for the most part it's based on the microbes an the energy connection from decaying organic matter .The cycle of life .
Worm castings are one of my favorite soil additives they really condition the soil in a great way I've added castings to extremely low grade commercial soil an gotten some great results. Not new to recycling soil so , i had to get time release soil not a fan of it at all, one girl is showing nitrogen toxcity, others are good. It would be a good base soil for sure - has peat, spaghorn moss, river soil and organic compost in it.
