Ongoing problem with deficiencies at around 30 days, hard water problems.

Nutes are AN Sensi bloom & I feed as per Tangs easy schedule with just the overdrive as supplement. Just a few doses of 1/4 tsp/L (starting @ day 35 'ish) about 2 weeks apart seems to have knocked it on the head.

I didn't know you could add it that often (1-2x/week) if you needed to, that's good to know & something to bare in mind in the future. With this in mind I'll start adding it a few times earlier in the cycle, say start @ day 20 then day 30.. & see if I can prevent it happening.

Thanks for the info Waira, much appreciated my friend :thanks:

Well seems after all the epsom didn't really help, the deficiencies came back with a vengeance after I wrote the last post!

I can't do the RO thing here so I've looked into the problem further. There are other people with very similar problems to me who have hard water & some suggestions that come up are to use either humid acid or a product called TNC Bactorr. The Bactorr seems to work for a few people, it's an enzyme product & does something to the calcium I think & makes it more available to the plant. Vague I know but a chemist I'm not. Any thoughts @Waira ?

thx

...I haven't heard of it mate, sorry,... humic-fulvic can help, but it's no panacea to fixing the hard water issues,.. this is about a cumulative build-up of minerals, which will start to drive pH up, start causing uptake issues from that as well as excess Ca interfering with up other nutes,... there are hard water nutrient formulations for some brands too,.... what about the self-fill water machines mentioned earlier?

Thanks Waira. I think I need to completely re-think how I grow from now on. Looking into hard water nutes will be a start. Also changing my soil from the peat based stuff might help, something that buffers the PH better, perhaps even go organic. Need to re-educate myself :wall:

Hey growers back again still battling with the same problems years later !
I switched to plant magic old timer organic nutrients/plant magic soil & also tried the TNC bactorr stuff but neither helped.
Am thinking of switching to tropic mix soil next as it was recommended on another forum by someone who has really hard water & apparently helped, they also recommended growers ark nutrients as they do a hard water version. Growers ark also can analyse your water so they can advise on what nutrients to use so I might try that too.

Pic is a leaf from the latest grow at day 45, not looking good - mag, cal, P def ? Just to summarise @ day 35 they start to go yellow & the steams go purple, day 40 the spots start appearing, all this mainly at the top of the plants, growth slows right down & the end result usually is just poor quality as I limp into harvest. The photo has actually made the leaf look greener than it is for some reason.

Like you said though @Waira looks like the problem is possibly a cumulative build up of minerals, maybe a water sample test will highlight this. Im wondering what else I can try other than what i've mentioned here. RO or bottled water aren't really an option. So frustrating, everything else is dialled in but I cant ever seem to get through a grow without about 70% of it going to sh*t because of the crappy water:eek1::eek1::wall:. Maybe next time the tropic mix soil will buffer the PH better & the hard water nutrients will help.

Can anyone confirm the symptoms from that leaf pic ? Thanks for any help

They have all kinds of filters. Find something that u can use. I have mine next to slop sink. It hooks to the sink but it will hook to a hose also. Hard water makes for hard growing. It’s inexpensive and worth every penny. Really cheap when u think about how much you’re investing in a grow just to fight shitty water. That has been the biggest improvement in my grow. I used to get the same kind of issues and it was from hard water building in my pots. RO now and growing is now easy I know what’s going in I control it. If there is an issue now much easier to pinpoint.
