Hi archie gemmil. I been lurking for awhile. Intrigued by the idea of autos. Anything to simplify the work, no?

Anyway, here are some updated photos. First, the Thunder Bloody Mary at 37 days from seed. This lady is definitely beginning to push out a few pistils.

Here is the Super Lemon Haze, also at 37 days. She's just growing.

This Sweet Train Wreck, at 30 days is finally starting to grow vigorously but also complaining a little at the tips. I guess one of the downsides of common reservoir is you can't tweak for each different strain---maybe I should just do all one strain next time.

Finally, the Pineapple Express, also 30 days. If I had something else to put in the 4th bucket I'd cull this, but I don't.

Okay, so as I post these photos, I realize just how terrible they are. Going forward, I'll turn off the Goliath and take the photos in a more normal light. I am always wearing my UV glasses in that room, so everything looks terrible though. I'll do better next time.

So, since I like to talk so much, I figure I'll mention a couple of things.

First, I am running the light continuously. Girls seem to like it. Anybody ever run into problems doing that with autos?

Second, what humidity range gets problematic? I am seeing 61% RH and 71 degrees f with the tent closed. It's raining and chilly around here, but the Goliath keeps the temp up at 70+.

I said two things, but here is a third.

Third, does anyone keep a "return" path open in their tents? I have seen that there are people who like it nice and tight with the tent walls sucked in by the negative pressure of the fan, but at least on (my limited) common sense level, it seems that that would 1) be bad for the fan, and 2) seriously hamper the airflow. Just wondering what people do.

Thanks for reading.

I’m a noob here but I’ll share my thoughts:

24/0 lighting — experienced growers will tell you that the trade off between the electric bill and any increased yield isn’t worth it. 18/6 throughout seems to be favored for this reason.

61% Rh at 71 degrees: here is a VPD chart.

According to this, 42-55% is the ideal Rh at 71 degrees for plants in late veg/early flower.

I agree with your thoughts on negative pressure.

Your ladies look great, very healthy!

Thanks davisgirl. This is my first attempt to "quote" a message in reply, so I hope it comes out okay.

I will try 18/6 for my next grow.

Also, thanks for the useful data on VPD.

So far, I am encourage how my girls are doing.

Day 39 for Thunder Bloody Mary

Day 32 for Sweet Trainwreck.

Screen Shot 2019-02-14 at 9.19.24 PM.png

Super Lemon Haze at day 39. I got to say about her. This thing has been so stinky for the last two weeks at least. My tent has a properly sized carbon filter and fan, and my grow room has a much larger capacity carbon filter and fan, and I still get little whiffs of her from outside the grow room. Way more than the larger Thunder Bloody Mary. Oh well. There are worse problems.

Screen Shot 2019-02-14 at 9.20.17 PM.png

And my anemic little Pineapple Express. I think of her as a rescue. Also, day 32.

There is a fellow on here (Something Curtis? I can't find it) who advocates a modified Lucas plus full PH swing. I ain't doing the Lucas. I am following the GH 3 part published schedule, but I am trying to follow the idea of the full PH swing. My tap water has about 50 PPM, and it is pretty consistent. I had tried the full PH swing using RO water and I found it tricky to even dial in my PH when I mixed a solution. However, with my tap water, I just mix the solution and I end up somewhere around 5.68, and then, over 14 days, it climbs gradually, and doesn't get past 6.30 before I am ready to mix a new batch. I am not claiming to have figured out anything here. I am just reporting my delight at how easy it has proven to manage so far.

Long time, no update. For narrative purposes, I will post the updates in order.

This is Thunder Bloody Mary, my best one,

This is my Super Lemon Haze, also Day 46.

Here is my Pineapple Express. Still amemic at 39 days.

Looks like I didn't take a pic of my Sweet Trainwreck on that day.
