I grew for about 11 years, and then, for reasons, had to quit for several years. Now I'm back. I am sure autoflowers were a thing before, but I wasn't paying attention back then. Also, I had some of the very earliest LED fixtures, and they mostly sucked. Anyway, it's all exciting. I managed to pull together a grow space. (Do my word choices give up how old I am?)
So this is a pretty unimaginative setup. It is a lot of work to grow a little weed. So those are GH Hydrofarm units. I bought the 8 unit system, but decided to only use four for now.
The LED at the top is a perfect sun Goliath. It's 544 watts actual draw.
I have four strains I am working with: Thunder Bloody Mary, auto, feminized, Samsara Seeds, Sweet Train Wreck, auto, feminized, Sweet Seeds, Super Lemon Haze, auto, feminized, Canuk Seeds, and Pineapple Express, auto, feminized, Barneys.
Life is crazy busy, and for reasons, I have to be discrete. This can only take so much time out of my life. So I am trying to figure out how to keep it as simple as possible. Trying to remember the things I did before that were easy. So back in the day, I did paper towel method, but also, wet rockwool for germination.
A whole bunch of seeds failed to germinate (or at least, failed to thrive) in the paper tower, so I just went with rockwool and a germ tray/dome. So I was able to eventually get one of each of the four strains going.
The GH Hydrofarm system has a controller bucket with a float valve and a 13 gallon reservoir that sits atop it. It did some reading around and was intrigued by the "Lucas formula" as it seemed super simple and in keeping with my philosophy of keeping it simple and easy as possible. "Lucas formula" has to be legit because so many people on the internets have reported success with it, but I was getting signs of nitrogen deficiency so I switched off to following the regular GH scheduled for their 3 part micro/grow/bloom stuff.
Anyway, here's my Thunder Bloody Mary at 7 days.
And here's my Super Lemon Haze at 7 days
I am actually at 35 days for my grow now, and so I am sort of playing catchup for now, but this is a good start.
