New Grower Noob with girl scouts and something citrus!

Thanks gents for the interest. I'm not stupid but did piece this together for the first time. I'm also pretty critical of myself in general so know there's a bunch of stuff I could have done but few have affected the plants by the look of it. So far I'm experimenting I guess with the nute amounts and heights. Winter will mean regulated temps for the next grow with a central res and heater, my first grow I wanted some variety I guess.

Let me check out the raspberri pi, it might not be the cheapest compared to arduino however for those without the ability for a home server it's better anyway as it has native WiFi and generally much more flexible for running as a Web server itself to host data. I might be able to set mine up and save a basic image that others can use to set theirs up if using the same sensors. Not sure if this has been done before? I'm no programmer but it should be easy enough to do.

Regarding LST, I'm thinking that bending the main stem mildly and then the others in appropriate (generally side/opposite directions) is the right approach as per the thread in our noob section. .

Sounds like great plan automating don't know much about that .
Here is a pic of a sour liver at 26 days lst-ed and leaf tucked to promote branching at the nodes.

Thanks for the pic and good to know the age too of yours for a rough guesstimate. I was also expecting to re route some of the new growth shoots asap too gently as it shows you did. Is leaf tuck a simplified way of moving but not removing the fan leaves so the younger stuff gets more light?

looking good. I found with LST alot of it is preference or what you are going for. I always try for an even canopy so I top my autos then pull all the branches down and away to keep it level. When you do it that way you end up with something like the pic below. I also lolipop because I do not want popcorn. Like I said that is just me experimenting to find what I like. I did start by leaf tucking and following the LST guide that is in the new growers section. I do more trimming now and leaf removal as most autos can take it. Experiment you will find what you like. This pic is the end result I am going for when I LST.

Yup move the larger fan leaves out of the way to let light to the nodes and train the top away from the center and let the branches come up and shoot for the lights.
I also try to orient the leaves so both nodes are exposed to the light.

Looking good. As you can see In my pic I am pretty much getting the same effect with a little more work . I hope mine becomes as beautiful as yours though . Lol.

Hey there... Very nice job of journaling and very nice job growing also. In subbed.
As for LST, i say go for it now rather than waiting.
Just get your main top down lower than some of the other nodes and the plant will send more growth hormones auxins to those nodes and they will become dominant. Just keep doing this as each new node becomes dominant and you'll have a nice big round bush of huge buds in a couple months!
Looking awesome so far:growing:

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate it. In regards to the journal I have to say (and you can see) it's been fairly uneventful in regards to issues. I knew myself that I stunned them most likely from nutes post germination, although only saw a tiny bit of leaf discolouration so maybe it wasn't terrible. A few other minor mistakes including not getting all the plumbing setup properly for water changes haha. My first was a disaster!! I'll work out a way to do this manually for now. The raspberry pi is mainly for monitoring because I like data however i don't think I'll run too much with automation - simplest and best use case there is to have a dump and refill function so I can then just drop in my calculated nute amount. All the same, let's see how I go when the plants start drinking, I might at least do an auto-topup to a specific level and an alarm that can be programmed for low nute levels (programmable of course). LST will start too, I agree with the idea that as long as you're gentle then what's the harm? She's happy,. healthy, strong and growing like a weed right? As you can see it's base is offset in the pot which means I'll pull down the other way and try to centre it all up over the next few weeks.

@AJrexxx It might not be yours but that is certainly a beautiful bouquet!

@islandgrower thanks for the quick tips, nothing like simplifying stuff to leave some up to interpretation. I'm never one to follow a guide, I'll skim read and be as intuitive as possible but you can probably tell that already. Cheers again.

A few days on and all going well. Have noticed a couple of the gsc's fan leaves have rust patches however the rest looks to be thriving. Hoping I can hold out on a full change of water until the weekend. Look like anything terrible? Checked yesterday to see 470ppm and pH still 6.0. I did move the light lower last night (and a 6" fan directly dispersing air onto the plant) so don't think it's heat related as I think I noticed this starting a day or two earlier.

Most descriptions of calcium or magnesium sound and look like they start with spots which seem to be showing up. I'm going to give it a tiny squirt of calmag to boost things until I refresh on Saturday.

I also started LST and found it rounded out nicely after a few days to a 'normal' crown like shape, have subsequently push some of the longer new growths back in alternate directions which looks like it'll hold nicely.

Push them to the limit!!

Looking like she wants some calcium... I don't remember, have you been feeding any calmag? If not, a couple mLs per gallon should stop it.
