A lot of questions and I don't want to make a million threads/comments all over the forum. :rolleyes1:
(already did a couple, sorry, and had a ton more questions, haha)
First and foremost, I'll list the 'specs' and let me know if any of this stuff is bunk.
2x4x5 tent (concerns below)
442cfm exhaust fan with a carbon filter and a 400 cfm in line (too much?)
Two small oscillating fans
50/50 coco and perlite in 7gallon 'smart pots'
I got the general hydroponics flora trio, but I see a lot of people using other stuff. Are these any good?
General hydroponics ph control kit (I've heard this sucks for testing.. thoughts?)
Cal-mag
Diatomaceous earth for pesticide..

Now, probably one of my most important questions.. The water here is disgusting, and I won't drink it, so I don't want my plants drinking it either. Can I just buy gallons of purified water from the store?

I'm building LEDs that are going to output 300watts/49k lumens, and I'll be growing 2 plants at a time. Should I get a taller tent to make up for the light distance? Considering getting a different one because none of my exhaust holes are on the bottom of the tent.. 2 6-inch holes on either side at the top half, and then an 8-inch hole on the 'ceiling'. Is that a bad thing? I heard the in take should come in through the bottom..

I picked 3 strains from fastbuds; pineapple express, gsc, and green crack. I want to do two different strains at a time, would these work to grow together? I know some can be tall and some can be short and mess with the light distancing.. Could it work out with some lst or scrogging?

Does this sound good to you guys? Any changes? I'm hoping to start my grow in a couple weeks, but it really depends on when the seeds and light supplies get here.
Thanks!

Sounds like a decent setup. To answer your question I think cooler air would be closer to the floor my friend not the top of the room

Welcome to AFN!! You've got a lot going on! 80% of what you are wanting to know is personal preference, so be prepared for many different answers... As far as what I can advise...

400 cfm is waayy to much for that tent. You will need a speed controller. Same for the 442 exhaust fan. The intake is at the bottom of the tent , and exhaust at the top.

Size of the plant depends on size of the pot. The bigger the pot, the bigger the plant, so plan accordingly. You are in control of the canopy height/size.

If you've got a couple of weeks, take some time to search google and youtube for vids and threads about calculating cfms. Also check out @FastBuds website. Im sure it has info on average strain sizes! Nutes and which ph up/down ect. is personal preference. Hope this helped a little!

Thanks, so far I'm loving it here at AFN! Found it a few days ago and I've been on it ever since, haha.

Ahh, figured as much about the exhausting..Heat rises and all. I thought I had ordered the tent that had a hole at the bottom, and when I put up the tent I realized there wasn't one. I thought about running ducts to the bottom of the tent but it would be so cluttered and ugly and take up plant space.. Along with lower efficiency.. I'm just going return the tent and get one that actually has exhaust holes in the bottom.
Someone had told me that 4inch fans wouldn't be strong enough but even those are more than double what I need.. 40cfm..
Lord.. that tent was going to look like it contained a tornado. Probably sound like it too. :crying:
Sadly, it's going to cost me 40 dollars for the return shipping..Yayyy.. 130 for the inline, tent, and some hps glasses (mistake) and I get enough back for just the tent, and don't get anything back for the warranties I bought. Bs.
Do I even need an inline booster fan??
....Would you possibly know of anywhere that has a classified section for grow-related things? I'm sure this stuff would be useful to someone. :p 40 dollar shipping.. I'm never ordering from amazon again without being 100% sure of the items. :wall: Almost everywhere else I've ordered from will usually pay for return shipping. Maybe I got lucky.

It doesnt have wholes at the bottom because they arent needed in that size tent. Just opening the side flaps should be enough. The exhaust fan will draw in air from the negitive pressure. If you're in the states, then both Offer Up and Craigslist habe grow equipment listed. I think the tent is fine, unless you want to grow monster sized plants. I have a 3x3 for flower and a 2x2 for veg.. No intake in either tent. Just exhausts. And pull consistently 2-3 oz a plant easy. With them all staying under 3ft

:wall: :wall: Everyone keeps telling me different stuff, this is driving me nuts, lmao.
Well, i'm returning the inline and exhaust either way cause they're way too strong.
Would having the side flaps open effect the smell at all outside of the tent? I wouldn't think so, but just checking, cause I know absolutely nothing..
