Every part of a grow is a learning experience ... I hung this one in the tent she was grown in until yesterday ... I had to move it outside temporarily so I hung it in the garage for about 6 hrs and she came out a little crispy ... so I cut her into branches (not buds) that will fit in a Tupperware container and closed it up over night ... this morning the buds felt fresh again and the Western Caliber IV hygrometer read 84% .... I put it in the oven for the day in the Tupperware uncovered .... after about 8 hrs I took it out and the buds were still reading about 80% rh ... now the Tupperware is sitting open in a tightly closed leaf paper bag ... looks like it's gonna be another smooth and easy dry and cure ... the rh here is about 35% ... the bag keeps it from drying too fast yet it allows it to breathe enough to slowly drift the rh lower while protecting the buds from the light ... I doubt the bag would work if the local rh was over 50% ....

Very nice work!

Drying now for 8 days w/ current herbal rh of 74% ... this is determined by putting the top on the buds for a couple hours w/ the hygrometer enclosed ... I close it during the day to allow the moisture deep w/in the buds to surface and open at night and slide the container into the bag to allow it to breath but not dry too fast ... I'll turn her into buds in a couple days but there is no rush as I like to take a minimum of 10 days to reach a consistent low 60's rh for the buds ... I used to think 3 days to dry was good but it was too fast and I would get the 'hay' smell ... should be just a little more than an oz here once dried ... His next plant, a Skyrone Walker Stomper broke ground 8/8 and will be his first Mephisto grow ...

I'm definitely trying this approach with the Candy Kush i'm growing because I keep getting aggravated with the hay smell!! I'very had NLxBB in the jars for well over a month and I keep burping them.. All 3 jars are in the low 60% range, but they just don't smell like bud until you break them up.. I don't want to lose that great Kush smell once i'm done!! Plus, my next grow is going to be fruity strains, so I DEFINITELY don't want to ruin that!!

I always avoided the paper bag cure because I didn't want to put sticky buds on paper ... the way I do it now they never touch the paper and it slows the drying process enough to allow the buds to dry evenly ... last 3-4 cures I've used this technique or a variation and my weed smells better than ever and is smoother too ... does not work where rh is above 55 since the idea behind the bag is to slow the drying process ... the hay smell comes from the outer bud being too dry and the inner bud being too wet ... the closing and opening at this stage let's the moisture deep w/in the bud come to the surface ...
