Is it against the rules on AFN for a member to quote text from an email correspondence?

I am unsure if my request was misunderstood by briman, or if it is actually against the rules. I have seen others do it here without consequence for sure, that's why I am confused.

Update, I had written Nico a personal email as you might recall (not a Facebook posting). The guy responded with acknowledgement of the points I raised and said he'll be updating accordingly the next time the topic comes around. I thought that was pretty cool of him.

Looks like this invited some good discussion but I'll be leaving things to how I paraphrased his response. There were some critical remarks pointed his way early in the thread and my objective in sharing the latest info is to say education works. The guy could have blown me off but he showed me professionalism by responding, and I respect that very much. I actually think he has a good grasp on horticulture, As to genetics, we are all are learning.

I must apologize, I was referring to your exact words as above. Yes, one can quote text from an e-mail or pm, but please do so with both parties agreeing on it. Not wanting to come across as a tyrant. I was just going by exactly what you posted.
