Hi Everyone ....

Here are the seeds the tap roots on the second pic is the Super Lemon Auto .. One sprouted the other no signs of sprouting … the first pic is the Dark Devil Auto ..both sprouted .. probably time to plant into the solo cups tomorrow with Coco Coir and Perlite mix …. I have rehydrated the coco and I am currently buffering it in Calmag and 1/8 of GH Trio Nutes … I am surprised how the 3 sprouted so fast ..wasn't expecting that .. LOL thank you for subscribing Lunerman …

Not sure what I did wrong here .. not sure why now I have four pics … the two with both tap roots showing are the dd Auto .. and the one with only one tap root showing is the SL Haze

Good to see some new baby girls! I find germ in paper towels takes 24 hours for most and 48 hours tops. If anything doesn't sprout after 48 hours it usually won't. I would put the ones that have tails on to cups now. Don't wait. And I would not use perlite. Its not necessary and its messy. I don't use it with coco. Hydroton balls are good with coco in the pot but not in the cup. So for the cups I'd just use 100% coco with a weak nute mix and not to wet. Use the cheap meter I mentioned to know when it water.

thank you @lunarman for you post …. i was thinking the tap roots had to be longer .... I will plant them this evening as I am buffering the coco right now.. its on its 2nd round of soaking in calmag....I will have to let it dry out for a couple of hours so its not so wet I guess …. I will put just the coco coir in the solo cup .... .. I put another seed of the lemon haze into a glass of water as I was thinking that the second one might not sprout

sounds good @newautoflower grower

If you spread the coco out on a mat and put a fan on it it will dry out a bit pretty fast.

Do you have one of those moisture meters? that is a great way to check whether you need to water or wait. I think I was watering about 1.5oz of weak feed water once per day. But checking with the meter before I did anything.

We are on the same page … I just took the coco out and put it on a mat that I have... I never thought of the fan I will do that too .. man just in a couple of hours the dark devil root grew a lot .. the one is very active .. I am calling her Samara .. yes I have a moisture meter but I have also been practicing with weight difference in cups .. from totally dry to wet .. trying to get the feel of different moisture levels in the cup of coco .. thank you lunerman

OK that is excellent. If you are using the 16oz solo cups I found the weight when dry and needing water is about 230 grams. And I would add around 1.5 oz of water a day that took it up to about 270 grams.

But I used the meter too. Just push it in the coco about 2 inches down and nearer the sides of the cups to stay away from the roots. And once the meter starts to hit the DRY part (is colored red on my meter) that I when I water again.

And its better to keep the tap root a bit shorter instead of longer so you don't damage it when you drop it in the hole in the cup. Use tweezers too. And cover the hole with lose coco and then put a dome on it. I found it takes 1 to 2 days for the seedling to get above ground. Once above ground for a day or so then switch to bottom dunk watering instead of the top. Once you start dunk watering I keep it in the nute mix for about 1.5 to 2 seconds and about 2 inches deep in the water. Hold it there and the water/nutes will get sucked up in the cup. And the tap root will learn to go seek that water down low.

@newautoflower grower
you have two threads going. I got confused. You have one in the new grower journal section. And one in the autopots section. Might want to see about deleting this one in autopots and keep the new grower one.
