Well as my first run was a failure do to not planning properly would like to see if I can get help from everyone to get me going.. I bought 2 - 34 gallon totes with a 6 inch inline fan rated at 250 cfm.. I also am going to use a carbon filter. The new totes I bought are 28 7/8 x 19 1/8 x 21 which I am going to stack giving me 42" in height.. I'm planning to grow 1 lady at the time. I'm going to use a 6" passive 90 degrees air duct on the bottom left and the 6" inline fan as a exhaust which will be reduced to blow through my carbon filter.. I am using foil tape in the box to keep it reflective and light proof.. my first question is with 42" height in the box I'm using 6 cfls how high should I mount the lights??? Thanks in advance!!!

Depends on temps, and watts of cfls but 3" - 5" is a good start. What strain you doing? :peace:

Hey mount the lights at the top bro you can always move the plants up or down. And also man i wouldnt use foil tape causes hot spots and such you can buy reflextics insulations at lowes, menards, and home depot. And thats bubble wrap coated in mylar works great just line totes with that you can use foil tape to adhere to the sides. Or you can just paint inside of totes flat white. But thats just my opinon good luck bro

Hey Gotgreen!! I'm planning to use 6 26w cfls!!! I just received some afghah kush Ryder, super silver haze, suger mango, auto blueberry and a photo of kush seed. I'm planning to grow 1 at the time especially being my first grow..heat was a major issue with my old box.. using a 120mm fan as exhaust but went with a 6" duct fan as a exhaust this time around rated at 250cfm.. my closet temps are around 77-82 without the AC on. But should be a problem where I am being in the winter it gets cold..

Hey johny50 was planning to use foil tape being it does great keeping the light from glowing when on.. I think the inline fan should keep heat out to the minimal.. yet again not sure being I had issues in 25 gallon totes with a rating of 78 cfm being around 90 degrees.. hoping with the bigger exhaust at 250cfm I can def keep it cool in there..

If ya running them temps consistently then yeah get those lights real close brother! Any signs of heat stress ( leaf edges curling upwards ) then just raise them inch or 2. :peace:

What do you guys use to raise the plants close to the light?? Crates? Phone books?? Need some easy solutions being that I live in a new complex and can't really have power tools here to build something..
