We trimmed our autoflowers at about week 3, some fan leaves and some branches. Is this going to ruin the yield or stunt them too much?

Yes, No, Maybe.

IMPO and a lot of research here by a lot of growers would seem to indicate that topping an auto above the fourth node ASAP and some LST is the best way to train an auto. The sooner you can top the plant the better giving more time to recover in veg before flowering starts. Some folks defoliate I do not - except late in the grow for airflow underneath.

I'm with MOG about not doing much defol and then more like tucking.....after years of trying every way to improve growing in some manner, now I just kinda let them do their thing with very little guidance more than just giving them space and simple care. I top to control growth of every plant...
What you do IS going to affect your plant but remember it's a weed, and weeds survive some shit.....most of the time even a stunted plant has 'bout the same potency as monster buds if ya did't burn it with nutes.
