Welcome you to AFN! I'd also like to invite you to start your grow log, if you'd like, in the New Grower sub-forum (there's a link in my sig). It has only been in place a couple days but there are already designated mods watching for new growers who need assistance. All the best on your first experience with auto's.

Some Basics:

Start with pH buffered mix and use pH buffered water (6.3-6.8 pH)

Proper ventilation/odor control

Start seedlings in un-ferted soil.

Do not transplant unless necessary.

No fertilizer the first two-three weeks or until sex

Start bloom ferts after sex at 1/4 strength, gradually increasing the strength as the grow progresses

the scotts stuff is .15-.15-.15, does it shock the seeds? is the .15 too high? I planned on using just water for the first few days, i didn't realize that i might want to do that for a few weeks, definalty a good thing to know since i havn't started them on any nutes yet.
So with the nutes i have the fish emu. and the mor bloom, should i do a mix of the 2 so there is some N in there? the fish emu is 5-1-1 and mor bloom 0-10-10, i also have some miacle grow bloom booster i think that has some N in it already would that be better to use?

I went to the grow log journal thing but it wasn't available, maybe it will be up soon enough

It's not something we would want to do on purpose. Is the seed a fem or regular?

There is plenty of N in the Scott's. If you were using an un-ferted mix, you might need to add N at some point, but not with a ferted mix. All you'll need is bloom ferts and maybe some molasses. Also, if you're not using a root drench with beneficial fungi (i.e. kangeroots), that is very helpful.

ok, the ph thing i'm working on, i found a ph meter on ebay for something like 14 bucks with free shipping. I havn't looked to see what a ph up down kit would cost but i'll look into it. another questions about the soil, is it important to put lime in the soil before planting to help with ph balance straight from the beginning.

The Seeds are fem, does anything as far as nute schedule or strenght of feeding make a difference between fem or reg?

the root drench what is the difference between the kangaroots or the fox farm root drench, would http://www.hydrocanna.com/general/8611-how-make-root-drench-healthy-plants.html work just as well?

Lime raises the pH. Most Scott's products have a low pH due to the peat used in the mix. So, the mix could probably use some lime. Without knowing the soil's pH, it's really impossible to know the right amount of lime to add. These things should really be done in preparation for a grow but it's already in progress. Let's see what your plants tell us when they start growing.

Other than the possibility of getting nute burn, seedlings started in ferted mix have more of a tendency to be males. If you're using a femmed seed, you may be alright concerning that.

There are beneficial microbes in worm castings but you would get more benefit from something with trichoderma and mycorrhizae fungi. There are some very effective products that are not expensive. They come in powders as well as liquid form. If you google either trichoderma of mycorrhizae, you will find lots of options.

I can't thank you enough for taking time to help me with my grow, I just got my right to grow my own plants medically again so I am having to start out small first and work up to something that is sustainable and perpetual. In my search for trichoderma and mycorrhizae i found this linkhttp://www.usethrive.com/offers-and-promotions/
its free sample of thrive, from what i saw i was able to sign up for all 5 different products they have, i'll see if i get them in 6-8 weeks, maybe they will come in handy for my next grow.

That's exactly what you're looking for! Free is pretty dang cheap, right?!

You will find many on the site willing to help, with the best of intentions. That's what separates AFN from other sites I've been around.

Always glad to assist. Hope to see you in the New Growers' sub-forum soon. :peace:

I plan on being in another room but the closet i'm in will have to do for now, I should be in my new room by the end of the month, i hope to add some more tube fluros and cfls
my 5 fem. sweet seeds fast bud seeds from attitude seed bank went into paper towel and about 18 hrs later all 5 had germed, they got put into the 6" pots on the 6th with just water, last night aug 8th one of them were up and u could see a second about to break forward, this morning on the 9th all 5 were proud and true. I have high hopes for the free g-13 labs pineapple express that I got along with my order.

Thank you Joe Dirt for letting me know about this new growers area, i'm new to autos and anything I can learn the better my grows are going to get.

No need to start a new thread, mods can move threads for you. I merged your two threads into one and it's now in the New Growers forum.
