Hello brothers and sisters.

I have a new grow area and i need some help with lights.

The room is 2.6 x 5.2 x 5.2 (feet) hope i got it right...cm is my cup of tea.
80 x 160 x 160 (cm)

My plan is to have 10-12 plants in 6 airpots in there.

I got 2 x 400w hps and cool tubes right now.

Will my lights cover the area and number of plants that i want?

Next question....

I wanna switch from hps to led or t5´s for money saving and my own peace and mind....dont like the heat from those hps in my house...

anyone got any god advice for my area?

Peace and love Justin:peace:

i cant tell you anything about l.e.d's but if its autoflowering plants you are growing , 2x400w is very sufficient , i like many average at 100w per plant but as these plants are not half the size as photoperiod badboys , that 800W will be perfect for 10-12 autos.. id run it.. im sure others would to.. but if you want to be crazy then sell your gear and just get a 1000w .. but id stick with what you got ! .. i can understand the money saving properties of led.. but damm u seen how expensive they are to start with ? i personally would like to try but id have to grow some more money before that day :D

10 - 12 plants might be a bit much for that space unless you put them in small pots. I think 8 would be a better fit for that size area.

T5s might not be a good option because of the dimensions of your space. T5s don't throw a lot of side light, just basically cover an area the size of the fixture. Looking at the Quantum Bad Boys, the biggest you could fit would be an 8 bulb fixture, which covers a 46" x 24" area, so you would lack some coverage on the sides and ends. I would be more inclined to go with LEDs. Three 240 watters, like the Blackstar 240s, would fit nicely in there and give great coverage.

Been looking at the blackstar series now and i think i like it.
Muddy, do you know where to get the best prices for them? Including shipping to Europe?

And would you go for three of the 240w or maybe 500,600 or 900w?

Justin

I believe Grownorthern.com in the UK is selling them. That would probably be your best best.

LEDs grow best when the plants are within their core penetration area, which for a 240 watter is about 2' x 3' so given the dimensions of your space, three of them would provide better coverage than the larger lights. Plus it will give you the flexibility to raise or lower them independently to accommodate plants of differing sizes.
