anyone tried the new auto valve? I just replaced 20 of my old one with the new 3/8. looks like it's a good upgrade.

Just curious, is it only the hose that is bigger, or is the nute delivery orifice in the valve also bigger? If the actual hole through which the nute mix is delivered is the same as the original diameter, plugging may not have been fixed by the new design. Flow rate per se, in my opinion, has not been an issue. For that matter, neither has plugging been for me, but I know others have had issues.

I've been running Auto pots for about 4 years. I've never had one stick open but I've had a few blockages throughout the years. The add does a massive decrease in blockages. The hole looks bigger. It diffidently flows faster. Like you said though it really isn't the flow rate. I can tell you with the 1/2 line hooked to them there is a major difference in pressure.

I do not have any problems with the 1/4" valves. I just clean out the tubing REAL good b4 I re use the tubing,

What do you use to clean your tubing? I've also noticed a little salt buildup at the top of the water line in the pot, what's good to get that off? This is my first run with the Autopots (1/4" valves) and so far everything is running swimmingly. I'll definitely keep my eye on any blockage, if so we may be upgrading to 3/8".

The only time I have issues is when I put in a piece of 1/4" tubing and it had been used b4 and it is dry. The kelp in MC is then dry and is like wafer thin flakes. BUT when the water the kelp it expands and makes a clog at the point the line meets the valve. Then using my mouth I blow it out. Now that is what I use when I did not clean out the line b4 reusing.

Now when I am done with a valve after a grow I take that line and just run water thru it. This was the kelp is purged from the water lines and will not clog.
I, too am using the 1/4" line. I see no advantage using a 1/2" line. Just how fast do you need the tray to fill?

Happy Thanksgiving.
