yeah i tie the main down to get as many limbs as i can then just tie limbs down ol yea don't use small diameter string or fishing line i decapitated my first lst attempt using 10 lb fishing line the idea is to get an even canopy so all the bud sites get even light
hey bateyes maybe we should have told you lst= low stress training bet that would have helped a bit huh? lol
but yeah you want to keep stress to a min and tieing the main stem down will cause the plant to grow limbs at almost every node and should improve the harvest of smaller plants instead of 1 large cola and several smaller limbs and with lst you get several colas all round the same size
I also poke holes under the rim of my pots and tie to them with some cotton twine. Just don't try to pull them all at once. Do a little every day as the plants get used to it.
I knew it meant low stress training, but for some reason I thought the stress of bending the stem made it grow better somehow Then it finally clicked that its 'training' that is 'low stress', and now it all makes sense to me, lol.
Ive always had a hard time learning by reading things. I gotta do it, or at least see it done, before I understand. Thats why although I consider myself a fairly 'bright' person, I damn near flunked outta school.
I wish I had known about LST when my pineapple express was lil. When I switched to HPS from MH, it grew 18" almost overnight. I had to raise my lamp so high, none of my other plants got any light. She would have been a perfect LST canidate! I finally had to make her her own lil bubble box- kinda like scotts 16 oz rig- and put her on the floor. SHes a tall, lanky one for sure!
You're welcome. Makes more sense when you see a picture. That plant is tied down with just one string. There are actually 18 buds, the one on the far left is now 16" long and starting to fill in some. Had I not LSTed it not only would I have run out of head room, all those buds wouldn't be getting as big. Not all phenos lend themselves well to LSTing. This one is perfect for it.
Boomer's technique is what i do. My square pots have slits in them so its perfect for lsting. I use thin rope and just wrap string around branch u choose then pull and tie. Really helps with light penetration. If you dont want to lst, then just top your plant towards the end and let the bottom nugs grow an extra 5 days or so. The lower buds will fill out. Nothing worse then having undeveloped buds when u harvest. Its a waste of the plants energy.
Cheers Phammy i'm just looking into that.. Had thought and seen it before i think but i recently slipped me - i love all this creative stuff so thanks for mentioning the technique mate
This is my first post even before introducing myself, but I couldnt help looking at the great job and joined the forum as I was looking for LST for autos,
nice one...
