Hey all. Ive got some 4 week old BHD crosses that I was going to enter in the party cup grow, but I think im gonna tier and maybe LST em. Ive never LSTed, and cant really find directions on exactly how to do it. The SE provided many answers to questions, but no "How-To" guide that I could find.

Does anyone know where I can learn about the ABC's of LSTing? Seems like theres gotta be a thread on here somewhere.

And, when I learn how to do it, should I wait after tiering to let em recoup before I LST? Doesnt seem like tiering would stress em too much...

Many thanks!

hey bro i got a couple tips i found if you are going to tier and lst putting the cup to the side of the container then tieing the plant down across the container its easier to water the cup and the container

i use zip ties in stead of string i put 1 around the stem(not tight) and another through that one and another through the top of the container and as the stem and gets taller and starts to curve back up just slide the zip tie up and then do the same for the limbs

hope this helps some

i'm no expert bats, but i do have to lst practically every plant because of my setup. firstly i would say wait till you have tiered and lst to the bigger pot, although that may not suit all situations. decide what branches are likely candidates, they will most likely be the lowest of limbs. there are several ways of attatching your lst string/pipe cleaner / cable tie to your pot. you can drill holes along the edge of the pot and tie your string to it or tape your string to the side of the pot or if you are using air pots the holes are already there for you.
after selecting the branch pick a spot between bud sites and tie on. i use a lasso/noose type knot. gradually and gently bend the branch over without causing too much strain on it. attatch the string to the pot. the string can be tightened gradually as required over the veg period, shouldnt really need to be adjusted too much during flowering.
this seems to work ok for me but maybe someone else might have a more clever method. hope this helps:bong:

LOL. Gotta be quick! Snipes FAST on them keys!

I guess prob the best way is 'just do it' (dont sue me Nike) and post any problems. So the goal is to pin the lower/outer branches down to give room in the center for more growth?

yeah he has the fastest fingers in the west lol.:howdy:for me the goal is to ease out the side branches to get more light to them as i'm using cfl's and they dont penetrate enough. in my current grow i had to lst the main stalk/kola as she was getting to tall for my box. check it out in my sig. i actually like the way that worked out for me as all the kola buds seem to get an even share of the light

Damn, Boomer. Those girls are so bushy, its hard to see the LST points! 70's bush, lol. The LST must also help em get bushy? Letting the light penetrate to the botttom, also, can keep the light lower so lower branches stay close to the light.

My plants ALWAYS have several inches between branches. I never seem to get those low, compact girls...

yeah i tie the main down to get as many limbs as i can then just tie limbs down ol yea don't use small diameter string or fishing line i decapitated my first lst attempt using 10 lb fishing line the idea is to get an even canopy so all the bud sites get even light

OK. Starting to make sense now. For some reason, I thought it was the "stress" that we were looking for. Its training with minimal stress. Lets call it TMS from now on. Just kidding.

The pics helped. Thanks guys.

What happens when you run out of pot? (not smoke, plant pot) Do you start training around the edge of the container? This is why sniper said to start the tier on one side of the container...

lol! 70's bush, ah bats i'm never gonna be able to look at that plant in the same way again bro. i'm glad she's coming down soon. i can just imagine myself smoking her and picking the hairs outta my teeth. having said that i'm glad she's not got a brazilian!!:twist:
