DIY Need help with lights and other things

3x3 space you need about 400w to maximize yield. One 240w Blackstar LED will over that, but the best case would be a 400w HPS in a air-cooled housing vented through a carbon filter. 4' isn't enough space...you'll eventually want to grow something tall and it'll limit you. I'd say no less than 6' unless you're literally locked into a space requirement....2 blackstar 240's in a 3x3 would be PLENTY of light, or 1 240w blackstar + a couple CFL's (T5's)

if you got a pocket full o cash... theres also the 400 W cali Lightworks SolarStorm... very sweet light... with UVB Booster bulbs too... switchable veg / flower / UV all independent.

In a 3 x 3 it would depend on your budget but I would run 4 240-260W leds. a 3x3 is kinda a odd shape but most lights have a 16" to 24" core saturation footprint so you just have to kinda work with that and since they dont make a 3 foot t5 2 footers might be a little short.

Hey Reb thanks my friend for stopping by. This may be a stupid question but you said copy and paste can you do that here and if so how. Sorry for asking something so dumb but i was thinking the same thing and wasnt sure if i could .

I can build this as wide as i want its just the height is whats got me 5 foot would be max for now then maybe later i could do something bigger. But i do need something to take care of the smell and i would really like to use the same light for veg.and flower but im still open to using either one i would like to keep price down as much as possible but if i need it then i guess i can get it. Just not wanting to break the bank or anything.

If space is limited in height, I'd def get an led setup because you need less overhead room than HPS. I would also build a scrog or LST setup to control height.

Hello jayp. I have a small tent 5'tx3'wx2.5'd with 4 4' t5s' vertical ,one in each corner, and a 135w ufo led, a 6in 240cfm extraction fan and a 6in circulating clip on fan. You can LST the plants and keep them low. I had to put my carbon filter outside the tent to save space, the filter is rated for a 400cfm fan. I just got a bs 240uv for christmas and will use it on my next grow. Check Gotham hydro on line, I saw a fan filter combo, 4in, for about $100 but the 6in would be better I think. The CFLs' are producing some really nice plants and a 4 or 6 tube t5 is fairly cheap. Power draw is low with CFL, t5,leds so only one extention cord and a power strip should be all you need. Most of the plants I have grown so far have been 32in or less. Good luck, friend.

sorry to leave ya hanging there Buddy! To Copy and Paste is simple... Open your WordPad or NotePad from your start menu/accessories menu (that's if your running a Windows based OS) then whatever you want to copy and paste off AFN just put your cursor at the end of what you want to copy... left click on your mouse, hold it down, and drag back to the left or right over what you want to copy. You will see it "highlight" when it changes color. Then right click on the highlighted area. You will see a menu pop up. Left Click on COPY. Then go to your WordPad or NotePad, right click on an open area in your new note or document opened... Then from the right click menu click on PASTE. You will see what you copied/highlighted from AFN/Internet there in your pad now. If you don't try it again. I hope I haven't confused you. But it's a great way to take notes and such and refer back to in case your internet goes down... As mine does from time to time!
