First ever grow: HighRise Seeds Auto Fire99 Fem under 2 42w CFL's
Hello all,

This is my very first, (slightly educated), indoor grow. I did try a couple gorilla grows many years ago with disappointing results. I recently failed to germinate 2 of these seeds and am now using "Flora root plugs." I'm currently using a cardboard box as a grow area and intend to move them to my shower stall and eventually outdoors to finish. As you have probably figured out I have little to no idea what I am doing so I though I'd start a journal in order share my ignorance and get as much help as is humanly possible. Any feedback, (positive or negative), and advice is much appreciated no matter how obvious you think it may be.

Some details:

Seeds: see thread title

Medium: Soil, FFOF mixed with approximate 20% generic perlite & 10% MG perlite, (mistakenly purchased and mixed at bottom of pot).

Pots: 3 gallon mesh type

Lights: 2 x 42W CFL's on hanging cord with y splitter using an aluminium baking pan as a reflector. 4 X 27W to be used as needed. Lights are 5500K about 3 inches away on a 20/4 schedule.

Area: 16 X 24 X 36 inch cardboard box lined with aluminium foil.

Accessories: 2FT box fan blowing through a cutout I made in the cardboard :), ph soil probe & pen, thermometer/hydrometer, 7 day lights timer, ph up & down + calibration liquid, cal/mag, FF Big Bloom, FF Tiger Bloom, FF Sledgehammer, Fish emulsion, SM-90, Neem oil & a plug in thermostat to control heat after move to shower stall.

Journal Day 9

Brenda & Kay are looking well with 3rd set of leaves beginning to show. Kay has a lean to her due to too much of a stretch after I added 2nd 42W CFL that was several inches too high. They received their first nutes today with 5 drops of fish emulsion & 5 drops of FF big bloom mixed in 1 quart of water ph'd at 6.4. Pics to come in the next day or so and thanks for dropping by ... Day 24

Thought I would knock off the dust on this thread as I have been neglecting it. Houston we have a slight problem! Well more than one actually. Problem 1 - It seems I accidentally ordered 2 packs of, (20 seeds), Fire99 photoperiods instead of autos. For some reason when I ordered the autos I was thinking they were feminized, when in fact only the Fire99 photoperiods were feminized. So when I placed my order I ordered Fire99 Feminized without even mentioning that I wanted autos. It was entirely my fault and I didn't even realize my mistake until a couple weeks ago. The cool thing about is I've kept a positive attitude about the whole thing and by keeping the karma positive, I have been able to trade those beans for a shitload of autos. I got Fire99s, Ghaze99s, a cross of (Easy Ryder x Russion Dragon) x Karma Dragon and I also got some of the Stone dragons. At the same time, I got an order from the autoflower, (Herbies), site that was mailed this past Monday, which brings me to problem 2. I've grown awfully attached to these little photos, but their taking up all my grow space and I don't have the heart to cull them. Has anyone ever flowered photoperiods in the short days of spring? I think they might for 2 reasons. 1st - there are currently on a 20/4 light schedule and 2nd, I once set out plants in the spring that flowered into tiny tight buds. I just wonder when would be the point that they would revert back to veg? Anyways as you can see Brenda, (the one with the temp/humidity monitor), was the victim of a failed fim attempt and Kay was topped because she was a couple inches taller, (she's still taller), and closer to the light. Anyways, I appreciate any comments, suggestions, criticisms ... you get the point and also ... Attentions mods, please edit title to photo instead of auto ... Peace all! :peace:

Hey bro thanks for the support. When I try to paste and copy the link in my sig I get this message ... "Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened. You may only have up to 1 line(s). Long text may have been implicitly wrapped, causing it to be counted as multiple lines."

Congrats need4weed been waiting for you too start, cant wait to see the girls ,good luck pal!

Thanks for the support H-man. I'll be starting a new thread with fem autos as soon as my herbies order comes in, (and also when I can figure out what to do with these girls, lol)

Hey Need

Elsa is right, a link in your siggy would be helpful. Stumbled on your thread this morning. Yeh I got the same one line message too but forget what I did to fix it. Sometimers lol.

As far as photos vs. autos, I saw a couple of threads (or maybe it was videos) of people that treated photos like they were autos. By that I mean, they only let the plant veg for 4-6 weeks then they switched their lights to 12-12 and started bloom nutes to bloom. I'm guessing that this will reduce the yield from what the breeder publishes but will speed up the process.

Plants look really healthy pal, but still confused as to whats going on lol, you throwing these outside and starting a new thread with new beans?
Heres a link to a thread spanglish made about making a sig step by step with pictures even i could follow it :)

Glad you stumbled by Duckster, (now your starting to sound like Elsa lol). I'm going to try putting them outside with a bag over them and only let them get about 8 hours, with most of that light being direct.

Thanks for the link Hairyman, I think the sig is there now. Yeah I'm going to start a new thread with autos from Herbies, but I'll keep this thread going for shits & grins. Sorry for being so confusing, I guess that's how I roll, lol ... :peace:

Guess you could try that. Probably have to put some kind of frame around it so the plastic does not touch the leaves. Would also have some concerns about lack of circulation and temps in the bag.
