New Grower My First Grow - x4 Dedoverde Haze 400w HID

So, I ended up quick drying a small amount of the sample that I took. Using a tupperware container, wet paper towels, and a microwave (basically steam drying). When I initially sparked the bowl, it did crackle a bit and have a slight chem taste, but the potency seems to be there. Decided to roll a joint and to my surprise it actually burned pretty smooth and evenly. The buds from this smaller lady seem to already have quite a bit of a stone to them, I was in zzZZzz land within a couple hours of smoking, couldn't even keep my eyes open. Can't wait until I have some properly dried/cured nugs!

I didn't plan to chop for another week or two, but I'm wondering if I should do it a bit sooner.

A lot of the sugar leaves on the main colas are starting to yellow, but the majority of the leaves on the lower half of the plants are still pretty green

Again, I can't really see the trichs that well with this 40x loupe, but they appear to be mostly cloudy, think the smaller girl has some amber. The smallest also has no new white pistils, they've all gone brown/amber and receded. I know that harvesting just the small plant first, or harvesting each plant in sections would be ideal (since the bud up top will ripen first), but I'm pretty set on taking them all down at the same time. The larger plants still have quite a few white pistils (around 40-50%), but I think they're just popping new ones out (pretty common with sativa doms from what I read).

It's currently day 67 (day 8 of flush), and I'm thinking about chopping around day 73... I've smoked quite a bit of the sample taken on day 65, and the potency seems to be there, it actually tastes pretty good too which surprised me. I don't think there would be much to gain by letting them go an extra week, and I don't want to push flush for too long.

I'll take some better pics tomorrow or later today, but can anyone tell if they look close to being ready?

Thanks atrain! Definitely going to take some new pics for the BOM competition, trying to wait until the last minute. I'm trying to determine how much longer they'll be...

Something tells me that chopping in a few days or waiting another week or so isn't going to make a difference really. A lot of the upper leaves are yellowing, but none have really died off yet. At this rate I think they could get plain water for another 1-2 weeks before any leaves even start to die off... Wish I could see the trichs more clearly.

Took some better pics, likely going to chop in 4-5 days.

This is the smallest and most mature gal, fattest colas, lowest ratio of white pistils (I'd say about 5% are still white, closer to 0, have trouble picking any out). This is also the gal that I took a sample from on day 65, and I'm happy with that smoke as is.

The other 3 pretty much all look like this one, with I'd say around 40% pistils still white and sticking straight out... But I think they're new and looks like they could possibly be fox tailing?

Really caught between harvesting within the week or pushing flush to 3 weeks.

If it were me and I wanted to harvest all at the same time .....let the small guy go to amber on trichs (or best you can tell with loop) then chop them all down. Keep them separated and cure seperate. Then after the cure sample each and in the future you'll know wich level you prefer your plants. And your right your not packing on that much more this next week bit there getting dense I promise. And you letting the thc ripen to your desired point. (Wich you'll know after this harvest)

Yeah, definitely plan to keep them separate and test each to see if the highs vary. I might chop the smaller gal down in a few days and try drying in a different room. Going to try holding out for some of the new pistils on the bigger gals to brown, they still have quite a few that are white and sticking straight out. I'm just wondering if this even really matters, from what I've been reading sativa doms in particular like to fox tail or shoot out new pistils even when they're ready to be chopped. The smaller gal didn't do that, so it probably isn't the case anyway.

A 10$ pocket microscope befor the next harvest will take ALL the guess work out

Yeah think I'm going to try and grab one tomorrow. I've seen a lot of people say 30-40x for looking at trichs, but I can't seem to tell what's going on at that magnification. Hoping a 60-100x scope will work better.

Day 69

Day 10 of Flush

So I just rolled up the last of the sample taken on day 65, and decided to take another. I'm honestly really happy with the quality of smoke and high from the earlier sample, and I don't think they're going to put on much more weight.

The trichs are mostly cloudy with some clear from what I can see, and I'm pretty sure there's a few amber but still can't see them that well. Most likely going to cut lights tomorrow morning and give them 24-36 hours of dark before the big snip.

Still not sure if I want to water for another couple days. I think they're as fat as they're going to get, and I'm dying to pop these 2 fast 2 vast beans. A couple of them still have quite a few white pistils (around 40%), but I'm pretty sure they're at least within the optimal harvest window, and I really don't see them swelling up any more... Haven't noticed much change in size over the last week at least.

This sample was from the smallest lady (also the most mature), I removed the node opposite the one taken last time. So both of the nodes directly beneath the main cola have been snipped, it's nice to see the shape of just the main cola by itself, forgot to take pictures of her after though lol. It weighed in at 18g directly off the plant.

Day 70

Still having trouble deciding if they're ready or will be in the next few days...

It's day 11 of flush, and many of the upper leaves are yellowing (sugar leaves included), but none of them have really died off, not a single fan leaf. Some of them feel really dry and used up, but haven't actually died yet. I know a lot of people harvest based on the leaves and ignore trichs, but I find it odd that no leaves have really died off after 11 days of just plain water.

Ended up grabbing a 60-100x Microscope, and from what I can see, the trichs on the least mature plant appear to be around 80% cloudy, 20% clear with a few amber here and there. The smallest and most mature lady looks to be about 80% cloudy 10-15% amber with some clear trichs.

Also the two medium sized (and least mature) gals, still have quite a few white pistils, mostly only on the main cola, but some of the sugar leaves on the cola are yellowing. The white pistils are making me wonder if they might put on more weight, but they seem to be so fat already I'm not sure how that's possible.

She is the smallest and seems to be the furthest along, the sample I took from her on day 65 gave a great high and I thought it tasted pretty good. Took another yesterday, but can't really comment yet. The empty space just beneath the main cola is where the samples were taken from (removed an entire node from each side).

This plant is a lot larger, with few amber trichs and still around 15-20% clear. Still quite a few white pistils on the main cola, but I'm not sure if she's really going to put on any more weight.
