Hey guys. I just acquired my first auto (WOS northern lights x big bud) and it's day 15 after germination and things are going great, however the caregiver I got her from put her in a 3 gal pot with coco, pearlite and miracle grow time release. I was told that she wouldnt need any neuts through the whole grow, but now after reading I'm worried she's not going to do well once flowering starts. I don't want to transplant, so is there a way to supplement or something to help? I have her under 4 23w cfls, 2 bright white and 2 soft white. Temps are around 77 and humidity is between 35 and 50. I have a pH meter coming also. Any tips? I'll post pics when I can get to a computer. Thanks!

I dont know anything about growing in coco... but if it ain't broke..

If your eerr care giver said its cool.. sit back and watch her grow, you can always add some flowering boost if you need to, just start with a very low dose.

with my first grows my biggest mistake was fusing over the plants and over feeding them!

Yeah, nothing wrong with that. There's nothing different in miracle grow than in other nute formulas other than the percentages. You plants will be fine.

My wife swears by the osmocote time release stuff for her tropicals. And Mj is just another plant.

You will probably still need to add bloom nutes after flowering though.

awesome thanks guys. i was going to try adding in some tiger bloom and molasses once flowering takes off. if I start with extremely dilute doses will i need to worry abut burn?
this is her. Its hard to not mess with her, so I'm trying to limit myself to one quarter turn of the plant a day and checking that there are no issues. I think she might be starting to go into flower today, her newest leaves have got more of a purple hue to them and seem more fuzzy than previously. I've never grown before, let alone an auto, so i have no real clue what to expect...im going to be searching around here for sure!
Today is day 15

Compleeeeetely different bro. Those tropicals aren't Autoflowering Cannabis, nothing is but Autoflowering Cannabis itself. Through many trials and errors we here at AFN have found that generally...not always, but generally, MG and other slow release nutes aren't good for growing Autos. They tend to be quite finicky in their feeds and don't have a lot of time to fix things so you want it right to begin with.

If your plant is doing ok so far then ride it out, it could be just fine. Give it plain water feedings about 6.5 ph when you get your tester. Don't overwater and you will probably be peachy. I wouldn't add a thing, just plain water and stay on top of your ph. If you go to adding other things to MG nutes you may be asking for trouble IMO. Good luck man, take a breather, you'll be ok. Looks just fine so far.

Thanks squid. My fingers (and toes and any other appendage I could possibly cross) are crossed. So far so good. I think trying to get her out of that soil would be asking for trouble.

This far yes, that would be no good I say. Too much disturbance to the roots that would be. Just roll on out bro.

For what it's worth, I grew in MG the first couple of years I grew autos...one thing GOOD about MG...it'll teach ya NOT to overwater...as long as you have patience, MG is fine. Ya gotta let your soil dry out between waterings....
Wouldn't hesitate a minute to use MG again...It's bashed because of people's IMPATIENCE.

Hi squid!

Well, I'm going to disagree with you just a bit...

My wife and I have grown everything from daylillies to tomatoes, and everything in between. And AF canna has been by far the least finicky, easiest to grow plant.

Finishing our second grow now, with very good results.

I think most people just over do it. Too many nutes, too much water, too much fussing. AF canna is amazingly easy to grow. Just gotta let it do it's thing.

Well squid, I can say this.

You're right man. But that's hard to get across to people that don't grow anything, let alone pot. So it just seems easier for them to steer away from the MG, that's all I meant really. I think people over do it as well man, I am guilty of that for sure, but not anymore. Simple simple simple.

But I have grown a lot of things in my day as well and I wouldn't say AF Canna is by far the easiest at all. If it were that amazingly easy to grow then no one would have as many problems like they do, but to each his own. You sound like you have a lot of knowledge in the Horticulture field in general, and that goes a long way.

But it's just not that black and white IMO. :D
