New Grower My 1st Grow, A journey...

Yup, even if only temporarily. Photos require the change of photoperiod to show. Now, you can flop them back to veg once it shows if you like, just remember, it's stressful to the plant. Remember also she's gonna grow a lot more during bloom, so consider your space requirements. I read most indoor growers (and myself included on photos) only let them get a foot or two tall then the flip. For myself, I've gone with near half the available height then flip, but then I've ALWAYS topped or LST'd and bushed them. Sativa, that is, not Indica. When you flip, bring it down slow over a few days. I've heard of some put them in the dark for 24-48 hours before turning the lights back on at 12/12, but that sounds fairly stressful. I guess it helps speed up the process...

Quote: http://howtogrowmarijuana.com/marijuana-flowering
"If you want your marijuana plants to start pre-flowering just change the light cycle to 12 hours on and 12 hours of complete darkness. This convinces the plant that the days have got shorter and now is the time to flower.

Think about how plants are in their natural environment, they start off in early spring, grow through the later stages of spring and all of summer and when fall comes and the days start to get shorter the plant begins to flower. So you move from a 24 or 18 hour vegging light system to 12 hours on and 12 hours off.

Although, while waiting for plants to flower can seem to take forever, once your plants truly enter the flowering stage their growth rate can be stunning. Growth patterns and nutrient requirements will change. The vigorous vegetative growth will slow, stems will elongate and flower formation will begin rapidly at first before slowing. If you are growing hydroponically you should now be using the bloom or flowering mix of hydroponic nutrients. If you are growing in soil you should add a fertilizer that is high in phosphorous and potassium such as ‘Super Bloom’."

Temps and RH a bit off this AM, not going to worry overmuch yet. It's very humid at the moment in the environment surronding and the addition of lights requires some temp balancing for sure. I need to finish my RH and Temp controller. Do not want the RH spiking like that with flowers in there. And it is probably time to spring for a real 6 inch fan and put the duct fan elsewhere.
Thanks TX, just curious ya know. Plan is to keep her in the veg/auto tent for a few more weeks and then move into a flowering tent and swing her to 12/12. I love my autos and will be growing a majority, but still plan on putting some photos through up and including creating a mother of three of my favorites. The autos are exciting due to breeding, etc. I do have grand plans, yes I do!!

:peace:morning willie thanks for friending me i will have to step up my journaling skills to keep up with you bud. your plants must love you you are so thorough and your attention to every detail is not seen often, you should do dwc you would kill it i am sure. Enjoy the season and grow them big in the new year!:tiphat::smokebuds::peace:

No sweat Willie! I just got my tent and 4" fan, finally. I'm so stoked about growing the SD's, I'm thinking real hard about jerking this handicapped photo and jumping into the autos with both feet and to hell with the SCROG!

Long day at the shop, getting ready for vacation. Use or loose it for vacation time and I always end up with some at the end of the year. Not complaining, mind you, gives a nice break for the holidays. Need to be sure I get stuff done though, no one else will do it if I don't!
Garden looks good and I am pleased to report after about 30 or so hours I see no sign of nutrient related problems no burning other than what is already and nice happy looking plants. I did not even fuss at them, just looked at them for a little while, relaxed and enjoyed.
Thanks for the kind word RP very appreciated! Let's hope the girls feel the same and reward me with nice massive buds!! Oh boy, wouldn't that be a treat!
Tx, man I don't know. I tell what though, I am pretty excited about my autos. They may be fussy and need certain conditions, but man they are really cool. Not having to worry about photo period is crazy, but there they are flowering away. You hear them put down by certain folks (not here!!) as under performing, etc. But just look around at the gorgeous big and frosty buds everyone is growing here. Get some started regardless of what you do with the photo. You won't regret it!

Yeah, the yield isn't all that, but you gotta consider they're crossed with ruderalis. Short profile, low output, etc., but also faster turnover. If you can't the quantity with one then you grow a shitload! BUT then look at BAM and TD. Stunning yields! I don't mind photos or autos, but this poor baby of mine is no candidate for the BOM Nom. Special Olympics maybe though! LOL!! Honestly, what sells me is the shorter profile and subsequent growth cycle. As long as the buzz is there, it's all good. PLUS you get to play with genetics a bit with less hassle!! I'm definitely going to do some selective breeding (feminized) with my SD's!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Good Morning Gardeners! Another day in the life. Look good, pots not to light, probably need a good watering tomorrow.
Off to work!
Happy Christmas Eve to those that celebrate!!

And to you my friend!!!

Well it's about 4:00 PM I took a quick look at the girls, they look all green and Christmasy. Off to the in-laws for the traditional Christmas Eve supper. My tradition is to drink to much and fall asleep on the couch! So not wanting to disappoint I have packed some nice double IPA.
Happy Christmas Eve to all my new friends and family, love you folks!
Peace and Good Cheer, Wassail!!!
Billy
