Greetings all.
I'm halfway through my 3rd run & this time I mixed 20% canna coco in with my regular soils (biobizz light for the top & House & garden's "Bat special" down below).

In previous runs, after a few waterings, the surface of the pots would become cement like. This led to leading to mad run off in subsequent watetings & most of the water ending up down the drain.

The coco has definitely helped! Watering is easier, I'm able to do it more often & there's little run off.

Im already thinking about my next run & im wondering how far I can push the coco content in the mix before the "rules" change?
For example, could I have a 50/50mix of canna coco & biobizz light & still treat it like a soil grow regarding Ph & feed schedule. I'm using the biobizz line of nutrients.

Thanking you.

Wat I'm about to say is just wat I personally have learned so the coco can be treated like soil when mix say bottom 1/2 is super soil mix (but with coco) I had to water @6.5ph up to 6.9 anything below 6.5 there was problems ( I started@ 6ph bc that's how coco works well up till then) so I would say it's totally dependent also 50/50 should be no problem there are products like warrior light mix, royal gold makes one, fox farm coco loco and similar that are variations of coco/soil/peat so I say do a few that are 40% coco then 50% ect till you find out how much you like in your growing medium I've personally found after switching back to organics that a 25% mix is wat I prefer .

Nice one @Fitzy.
Yeah was planning on upping it by 10% each grow until I found the sweet spot/ went too far but maybe I'll just jump to 40% next run & see what the crack is. I usually feed between 6.2 & 6.8 but you reckon keep it above 6.5 for a heavier coco blend?
I'd like to try a 100% coco run at some point just dont have time to be in there watering every 20min :D.
Might have a crack at coco hempy buckets after summer...

I ran 1 gal coco and watered once a day every once and awhile I would water 2x a day but very rare and as for the ph try out different stuff that's one reason I use 1gal pot so that I can experiment with a few .

Yea 50/50 mix is no problem, ofc add something for aeration, like perlite. And you might want to use the coco feeding chart for biobizz, or maybe something in between the soil and coco feeding charts. Or maybe go first with the soil chart and move to coco charts at some point.

Some say 30% coco is good, some say 40%, some do 50%. I doubt it makes a huge difference if you use 35% or 45% coco, maybe you need to start adding a tiny bit of more nutes a day earlier. I think if you have too little perlite or something else for earation, it makes a bigger difference than 10% more of less coco in the mix.
