Indoor Minimum Height for Grow Cab

No I'm sure I wouldn't, but sadly I can't. I just want to harvest 15-30g every 4-5 weeks so I can supply myself and there are severe limitations on what I can do.

I managed to do a grow in a 30 inch tall cupboard with a 2'x2' footprint using a 250w hps. It was not easy and temps were a nightmare. I was growing during the UK summer, lights off during day, but still fighting temps at night to stop them getting above mid 90s. Broke 100 once or twice in there. Still got some nice smoke out of that chamber but the head height was a major issue, I wish there had been some autoflower strains around back then it definitely would have been a lot easier!

Yes I can imagine that a 250 W hps in a space that small would cause considerable heat issues and I'm really glad to hear you say that you managed it! Makes me slightly less concerned about temps in my future setup.

There are a couple of questions I'd still really like answers to if anyone has them. One is whether or not lst'ing autos is detrimental to yield. Also, how much could you reduce the height of the plant? Could you reduce a 90cm plant to a 40cm one?

Secondly, I am going to put in a 50W cfl bulb and am wondering how much this will increase heat in the cab. Should I perhaps go for a higher wattage?

As before, if anyone has any strain advice that would be fantastic. I need short, low odour plants and so far I am thinking snowryder (flash seeds) and lowryder #2 would be good choices, but I don't really want to grow those two strains forever.

Thanks again for all the advice so far!

How did you fit your carbon filter in btw?

i found that easyryders(joint dr) didnt seem to have any problem with lst but i think it might be strain dependant and theyre not a stealthy unstinky one, i think that is a lowryder 2 x ak cross.. i had one at about 10inches final height (over the pot size) and got around 2 ounces which seems to have added more weight compared to one i left alone but that had issues.
lowryder 2 might be similar is all though ive never seen any grows.

you could find a way to have the carbon filter externally somewhere maybe hidden in a separate cabinet or a speaker or something to save space.

carbon filter? heh... actually my setup was pretty ghetto for that grow... a chunk of the desktop was cut away in a corner above the cupboard/chamber already to allow for cabling etc to be passed thru when my old pc system was setup inside the space... I placed a bathroom extractor fan over that whole sucking air out thru the grow then built a box to place over the top of the fan, inside the box was a screen filled with activated carbon so the fan would suck air out of the grow into the lower part of the filter then be forced upwards thru the carbon and out the top of the box. It worked pretty well to be fair but I wouldnt recommend others go that same route! In the end there was only one plant (the largest) inside that went all the way to full flower in that space under the HPS. Got a couple ounces off her but it wasnt a major amount of stink to be dealt with, no more than the usual aroma created by me smoking my exotic woodbines heh...

Sounds pretty ghetto man, but I like the ingenuity. I will probably have to have the fan blowing straight out of the cab and into the carbon filter which I'll put underneath the cab because there's some space there. Not ideal though. I'm gona go to a second hand store today and see what I can find, but I'll probably just stick with what I've got.
