Day 0

This grow had a pretty rocky start.

In tank 1, the seed germinated and then vaulted itself out of the growth media. I didn't get any pictures, mainly because when I saw what had happened, I kinda flew into a panic. In my attempts to set things right, I broke the root in half.

So that one got tossed, and I put my last CC seed in a fresh pod and started again.

In tank 2, there was a circulation problem that prevented the media from staying wet enough to germinate the seed. I moved it to another position on the tank where it could get enough water. Once I see some root hanging out of the bottom of the pod I'll move it to the center position.

This was on Thursday.

Today we finally have signs of life - in both tanks.

Going to mark today as the official germination date for both plants, and I hope next week's update has a bit more to look at.

Tank 2 has not progressed beyond the picture I put up Sunday. So I am binning that one and starting a Mephisto Forum Stomper instead. Soaking now, might be in the tank tonight.

Gonna call this Day 14.

It's been an eventful two weeks. In summary, I lost two CC seedlings and the Forum Stomper I started doesn't look all that great.

For both tanks:

Hydroguard innoculate: 0.75ml/L
Snow Storm Ultra: 0.5ml/L

So for Colorado Cookies, the feed is as follows:

Algae Extract: 0.1g/L
Sweet Candy: 0.35g/L
Megacrop: 0.375/L

Here's how she looks right now:

I am using the Snow Storm this early because it's also supposed to reduce inter-node stretch. Time will tell.

As for the Forum Stomper....

Food for that tank:

Algae Extract: 0.1g/L
Sweet Candy: 0.35g/L
Megacrop: 0.25g/L

It's been well over a week and this is what we got..

I don't give it much of a chance.

So I've started another Forum Stomper. If this one doesn't make it, I will have to take a long look at the tank and see what else might be going on.

I'll post an update in a week. By then I'll swap out the Forum Stomper seedling if the older one isn't doing any better.

Peace!

Saw your post in LS, you might be better off posting in the infirmary for Waira or the like to reply.

In the meantime, I am curious about conditions outside of the tank. How close are your cobs to the seedlings?
And your pH, you know it is being read accurately?
What are the roots looking like on the plants that have them?

Somehow I missed this post.

Lights are at least two feet above seedlings (40 watt cobshop units) and around 12-18 inches above the colorado cookies.

I have a pretty accurate meter, and just calibrated it before the grow. I think the problem is the new batch of sponges I have for the seeds.

Roots are fine, what of them there are. It's pretty weird, but I will keep the one of the two in that tank (see update to grow after this) that is doing better next week.

I am pretty sure this problem is due to me not recognizing the problem with the media soon enough.

Day 22 (Colorado Cookies)
Day 1 (Forum Stomper)

Colorado Cookies:

Nutrient solution:

Megacrop 1: 0.50 g/L
Sweet Candy: 0.35g/L
Algae Extract: 0.10 g/L
SnowStorm: 0.5ml/L
Inoculate: 0.5ml/L

Looking really healthy, and really short. This is what I was hoping for by feeding it the snowstorm this early on, but may have used too much. We'll see what happens when stretch kicks in.

Forum Stomper:

The older one is looking like it's starting to get its footing. Time will tell.

I've adjusted the paper ring at the base to prop it up a little more towards center (not shown in the pics).

See you next week with another update.

Media can be a bear to deal with, but looks like the CC will be taking off soon, and the FS will hopefully start growing more as she gets more roots.

Day 28 (Colorado Cookies)
Day 7 (Forum Stomper)

Colorado Cookies:

Nutrient solution:

Megacrop 1: 0.75 g/L
Sweet Candy: 0.35g/L
Algae Extract: 0.10 g/L
SnowStorm: 0.5ml/L
Inoculate: 0.5ml/L

Getting really thick. Nowhere near as tall as I usually see at this point, so the snowstorm appears to be working its magic.

Did a little leaf tucking, but so far no obvious reason to prune.

The smaller one got taken out today.

The original one to sprout is looking like it's going to make it.
